Evander recently has been the MOST consistent of ANY American heavyweight. His conditioning is always superb and his skills are sharp. He demonstrated this outpointing Fres Okendo and Lou Savarese. He is a shadow of his former self, but he at LEAST has a 40% chance to grasp at least PART of the Heavywieght crown. There is no other American fighter on the horizon who can make this claim legitimately. Love him or think he's washed up...truth is, he is the best we have.

He does have a good chance but if i had to pick an American heavyweight fighter i'd go with Eddie Chambers, he's fast and young.

I love Evander, and he is washed up, but you are right he has as good a shot as any and better than most. I truly hope he does it. In any event, win or lose my only real concern is that Holyfield retire healthy. The fifth title is meaningless, Evanders legacy as a top ten all time heavyweight and first ballot hall of fame inductee is a lock no matter how the end of his career plays out.

Agree. Even at age 44, Evander's got more talent and skill and HEART than any of the heavyweights around, including the so-called title-holders. He may be slow and tentative now but I think as long as he's in great shape - he still is - and trains properly, he's got that chance.

I would have to go with samuel peter. h e almost beat klitchko and he beat toney who in turn beat holyfield. Holyfield is probably second best maybe, if peter wins and holyfield wins then there should be a unification fight. But know one is going to beat klitchko except for peter.
