In the NBA, "home court advantage" is a huge part of the league. Some teams will preform very well at home and then mysteriously play horribly on the road. Take the Orlando Magic for instance their home record is 20-14 while their road record is 11-23. It's as if two different teams are playing. Another would be the Toronto Raptors 23-10 at home and 13-21 on the road. Miami Heat 23-11 at home and 13-19 on the road.

Assuming that the basketball courts are exactly the same in every arena, what causes this drop-off? If you say the fans then think again. 82games.com has done research and has found that the away team has an equal field goal percentage and free-throw percentage to the home team.

Is it a part of the NBA's business to allow home teams to have some sort of..advantage over the away team? And are the referees in charge of giving the home team that advantage?

To make CBS sell the coverage rights to a network that can cover it right? Like ESPN, where you can count on different channels showing different games?

I think boycotting advertisers might make CBS rethink screwing up sports broadcasts.

I have been thinking about this for a while, but I can't figure out the math behind it.

There are 65 teams which compete in the NCAA Basketball tournament In March of every year.

I assume that you know what the bracket looks like, but I will go over it a bit:

teams 64 and 65 play the first round to get into the top 64 teams. After this each team plays another, eventually eliminating the opponents until one team remains.

My question is how many different possible combinations of wins/losses can there be?
