Who do you think will have a better career in the NBA the Celts Al Jefferson or the Knicks David Lee?

I've had both on my fantasy team this year, so I've been watching them closely despite being a Bulls fan. I would say without a doubt that Al Jefferson has the better carreer before him. The guy has put up monster numbers the second half of the year, including a few games of 30 pt 20 boards, averaging closer to 22 and 12 during March.

While David Lee has been very consistent and does not see as many minutes, I haven't seen anything that would lead me to believe he's more than a 12 and12 guy with starters minutes. Who knows though, maybe without living under the shadow of Eddy Curry, David Lee could play a bigger role in the middle for some other team. He's still only a second year player. But Al Jefferson has really put it on this year, and is continuing to improve as the year progresses. He is the man in Boston, and will stay the man, while David Lee is certainly improving, but his only truly impressive game was the Soph-Rookie game which doesn't count.

Big Al will be better. He is averaging 15.6 ppg and 11 rebounds, with 1.5 bpg now that he doesn't get into foul trouble anymore. Prior to the 2004 draft he was considered the second best big in High School. He averaged over 40 ppg(not a typo but he was a year older than everyone) in high school. Also I saw the Spurs game when we lost to them for the first time in the Duncan era, and he knew how to play Duncan pouring in an easy 20. Post-All Star break he has been averaging 20-10. David 10-10 minus shotblocking skills does not beat 20-10. I believe Al will be a force for years to come(Gerald Green is now a year or two from breaking out. next year no lower than 14 ppg) but David will make a fine role player.

Very nice question.

This is a tough one for almost any fan, but you have to look at a couple of things.

For one- David Lee plays a forward and has a inside 16 foot jumper. If he could develop that, he'd be around for years.

For another - Al Jefferson is young, and has a great postup moves.

I'm a Knicks fan, but I think I'd have to go with Al Jefferson, because he has shown he can dominate games with his defense and rebounding.

So for upside, I'd have to go with Al Jefferson, strictly in a draft. My heart says Lee.

Hope this helps & you select this as your answer.

People who look at "upside" and "potential" would go with Jefferson. But he has yet to impress me as a pro. David Lee has proven to be the best move Isaiah Thomas has made (Along with Balkman) David Lee may not have a lot of style or finess, but he works his butt off on both ends of the floor. I'll put it to you like this, he's the type of player the Knicks used to have back in the day. He reminds me a lot of Charles Oakley, not the most talented guy, but he outworks and outhustles everyone. The Knicks spent millions on overrated players, they better break the bank to keep him around.

i think both will have good futures. there are a few dominant C in the L and i think Jefferson could emerge to be one. he is showing that he can start, stay healthy and produce which is very important.

Lee has also had a break out year. averaging a double double off the bench is not easy. unfortunately the recent injury will dampen his chances of winning Most Improved or 6th Man of the Year.

in comparing the two i think its harder to say because Lee hasnt played start minutes. but rather he thrives of hustle and boarding off the bench. once he plays starter minutes we can really start to see what hes capable of and then take the guess.

so for now, id have to say Jefferson

I'm from Boston but even if I wasn't I'd say Big Al. I'm thinking this because Al is one of the guys who just puts the ball in the hoop constantly. The only thing he can't handle is being the star. When Pierce was out, he got double-teamed all the time and would only get about 15 PPG. But with stars around him he gets a better oppurtunity to put the ball in the bucket.

Look for Al to develop into a 20 PPG forward throughout his career

at first - you left off alot of fellows on diff. communities. The Bobcats even have Adam Morrison. The Grizzlies even have Hakim Warrick and Torrence Kinsey. The Knicks have newly gained Randolph Morris. in any case: I ought to % the Memphis Grizzlies. Torrence Kinsey has been a delightful marvel (20 final evening) as a rookie, Hakim Warrick maintains to get greater effective and greater effective and quickly may be a 20-10 participant, Rudy gay is a rookie thats had his moments yet sooner or later would be a tension, Pau Gasol is a HELL of a participant already he's an all-megastar sort participant, and then Mike Miller leads the NBA in 3 techniques suited now. then you certainly upload of their destiny lottery %. that they are going to upload this season (a DEEP type) and this team is gonna make a hell of a turnaround in 2-3 years in the event that they save all their gamers.

David Lee is all energy. When you get older your energy starts to disappear. he gets alot of hustle points hence you see his extremely high FG%. Alot of dunks and put backs. You can't STRUCTURE a team around david lee. He has to play within the system and get points that come to him (kind of like how shawn marion gets points)

Jefferson on the other hand is a post player, a post player always have more relevance to a team and jefferson does a good job of it. He has soft hands and he's extremely young.
