I don't know baseball well. Is it OK to use the same pitcher three times in the playoff? Because there are 10 days for 7 games, it's possible to use the same pitcher while giving 3 and 4 days rest between games, if the rule allows. I am worried about Matsuzaka pitching for the last game.

Is he the only Major League baseball owner that has that attitude? When's it going to dawn on him that that attitude just doesn't work?

Are there other professional sports team owners out there that have the same attitude that he seems to have, about "buying"
one's way into not only getting into championship games like the World Series, but winning them?

Joe Torre has given the Yankees 12 years of stability, which they didn't have for quite some time before him.

He deserved to be treated better by the Yankees present management.

I'm glad I'm an impartial baseball fan,not a diehard Yankees or Mets fan, because I find the attitude of team owners like George Steinbrenner a turn off!

It seems like they have a way of taking the fun out of just playing the game!

rockies fans..who would you like to throw out the ceremonial first pitch for the rockies first home game of the world series? i definately have to go with larry walker. he's gone through so much with them and leaves for STL to finally try to get a ring, but comes short. he's my all time favorite player and i would just love to see him back in denver. if it's not him, i'd go with vinny castilla.

his home run trot yet? With all the bashing from the Indians fans about Manny's home run trot being slow he was a lot faster than Martinez. (Replays showed Manny already in the dugout by the time Martinez was just rounding third base).
Game 7 goodbye Indians!

It seems people are very biased. When the yanks were down 0-2 to the Indians they were DEAD. Why is that? Becuase they had to win 3 in a row and the indians only needed one win? Becuase they had their ace and their 40 year old going?

SO why is it the SOX, in the same situation, are given a chance? They need to win THREE GAMES IN A ROW, and the Indians only need to WIN ONE.
They have their ACE going and their FORTY YEAR OLD

So tell me why you people hate the yankees ( and if you say money, its not illegal to pay your employees, and the cost of living is greater in NYC that say Minnesota where teachers make half as much as ones here).

And CUrt, CRY ME A RIVER, Schilling needs to stop talking about everything. I want to see you pitch, that doesnt make you an expert on politics/ stem cell research/ religion. Please just put a SOCK IN IT.

or game 1 in the world series?

2007-10-20 15:17:41 · 12 answers · asked by Anonymous

Assuming that the Sox don't blow it in the next 5 innings, it looks like there will be a winner-take-all game 7 tomorrow. So who do you think will advance to the World Series?

Dice-K has really struggled in this post-season but they've got Wakefield, Lester, and potentially even Beckett as relievers. Also the addition of Ellsbury seems to have shaken the bottom of the Sox lineup out of their slump.

I think it'll be a tough game but the Sox just may pull it off like they did in '04.

Joe Torre, without question, has had a successful run for the past 12 years as the manager of the Yankees. His last 3 year contract worked out to a salary busting 7.5 million a year -- more than twice as much as any other baseball manager. After being knocked out of the first playoff round for the third time in three years, the Yankee organization offered him 5 million for one more year, plus another million as incentive for each round advanced in the playoffs. So Joe could have made 8 million next year if the yanks won the world championship. Joe not only turned it down, but called the offer an "insult." Was he being reasonable? He would still be, by far, the highest paid manager in baseball. Is he really woth so much more than everyone else? It's quite common for a player's salary to be reduced at the end of his career, why should it be any different for a manager?

If bases are loaded with 2 outs and the batter hits the ball to the pitcher towards the 3rd base side and the pitcher fields the ball and runs to 3rd to step on the base for the force out, does the run count if the runner touched home plate before the force out at 3rd?
