Well, ludicrously The Boston Red Sox have paid $51.1m just to talk to the ace pitcher from japan. If Matsuzakas team don't accept Bostons Offer then he is not goign anywhere until hes a Free Agent. Thats when things get interesting. If i was matsuzakas team i would accept Bostons offer. Cash in, get more talent...

(ok im a sox fan so im slightly biased)

The pitcher's job is to make it difficult for a batter to hit the ball ( curves, fast balls. sliders). But when it comes to intentional walks, the pitcher just the ball outside the plate 4 times. Instead of doing that. Why not having the pitcher giving a signal to allow the batter to take first base.
This concept would make the game less tedius and less boring.

Baseball has been struggling more and more over the last few decades. The Strike. the Steroid frenzy, The Yankees tyring to buy championships. The Red Sox finally winning a championship. Franchises on the verge of bankruptcy with spending out of control

After reading the yahoo article on how the Boston redsocks are willing to pay 51 million for the right talk to a player from Japan, it makes me utterly sick.

I can't help but wondering if we are seeing the end of Baseball as a professional sport in the same league as the NFL, NBA and NHL (although this is only a quasi league anyway.

I think the only thing left is to break everything up and restructure, but then what are you left with. I grew up playing teeball. Watch baseball. My kids grew up playing soccer. They watch the NBA and NFL. If they had a choice between going to a ball game and chuckee Cheese, I think I would end up shelling out money for those tokens.

Ok I want us to be realistic because I know that no matter when I ask yankees fans will always say that we are gonna win the next world series, but lets face it guys we havent in the last few years. So im asking for a realistic answer as to whether or not you guys think we will win the world series this year. And do you guys think that losing the bid on Matsuzaka, especially to the sox, hurts us at all.

D-Backs' Webb Voted NL Cy Young Winner
Arizona Right-Hander Edges Hoffman in Close Vote
AP
NEW YORK (Nov. 14) -- Brandon Webb of the Arizona Diamondbacks won a wide-open race for the NL Cy Young Award, beating out San Diego closer Trevor Hoffman on Tuesday.

One of six pitchers who tied for the league lead with a pedestrian total of 16 wins, Webb received 15 of 32 first-place votes and 103 points in balloting by the Baseball Writers' Association of America. Hoffman, who broke the career saves record last season, got 12 first-place votes and 77 points.

St. Louis Cardinals ace Chris Carpenter , last year's winner, finished third with two first-place votes and 63 points. Houston 's Roy Oswalt , who led the NL with a 2.98 ERA, got the other three first-place tallies and came in fourth.

Webb, who went 16-8 with a 3.10 ERA and made his first All-Star team, was listed second on seven ballots and third on seven others. No pitcher was included on every entry.

Webb's victory total was the lowest for a starting pitcher who won the Cy Young Award in a full season. The previous low was 17 wins, by Pedro Martinez of the Montreal Expos in 1997 and Randy Johnson for Arizona in '99.

Is this guy anygood. With Beckett and Schilling is their any chance he'll even be a top 3 starter in the rotation. Why drop so much on a guy that isnt that great especially if their is a guy like Zito on the market. Also what is the chance that Matsuzaka actually signs with Boston.

Everyones talking about him but he cant be that good. They said if he went to the redsox hed only be the third starter behind shilling and becket. So if hes only a mid rotation guy why is there so much hype?
