Most schools will allow or not say anything for the use of the local school after hours or when not in use.
However, the best thing is the direct approach. Go to the school principal and ask him/her.
If there are any requirement against it they will let you know. If not they will give their ok with what ever restrictions they may have.
That way you will not have to worry about breaking any rules or laws and getting kicked off.

Tell mom...lol

And, through the P.T.A., you will get results. Also, try writing a letter to the editor of your town newspaper. They may champion the cause as might any local community group or police sponsored organization.

Petitions also help. Pass out petitions among your fellow ball players and have the local community signed the petitions as well as the local merchants.

Good luck.

Most schools have a form called something like request for building usage. I would call the school and speak to the principal or athletic director. You would have to work around their schedule and sign a waiver I guess.

They might be willing, but they may decline because of insurance restrictions. Check with the NYC parks dept. for available fields and how to secure one.
