And, Yankee fans, is the feeling mutual?
Why?
If it's because the Yankees buy everyone's talent ... well, everyone resents that. But I don't think anyone hates the Yankees with the passion of Sox fans.

they will just beat me up. I am an amazing journalist and I do not need to conduct interviews to get a good story on Crazy Ozzie or his horrible team. And on another note, why should I have to go to their games or even watch them play at all to write a story on them?

It was because the Mets purposely threw those games away so that they can give the naive met fan the clinching happy ending at Shea Stadium. Are you met fans that naive that you don't see the obvious? This Met season is fixed. It's so convinient they are having a good season on the 20th anniversary of them winning their last world series. Stop being so naive & see the obvious.

We keep hearing about Derek Jeter/David Ortiz for MVP...but since the Red Sox aren't going to the playoffs and the Yankees would probably go without Jeter anyway, who then, is more valuable to their team's playoff spot than Frank Thomas?

Thomas is batting .344 with a major league-leading 10 homers and 26 RBIs this month. After struggling at the plate during April and May, he now has 38 homers and 105 RBIs on the season.

Thoughts? Especially eager to hear from fans in the Central Division who are equally ignored by the East Coast media bias.

I am biased because I am a HUGE Twins fan, but do you think that they have a chance? They had a little bad luck earlier in the season, but they have been hot lately. Even with Radke and Lliriano getting injured, they still win games. Mauer is such a talented player, as is Morneau. Santana is, well, Santana! Baker played a great game yesterday. Tori Hunter has been on a roll. Could they take the division? Chicago has a pretty tough schedule (in my opinion) and they are falling behind. Detriot hasn't been playing REALLY well lately. Decent, but not fantastic. The Twins are definitely creeping up.

I think they really deserve either the division or the wild card. They have made an amazing comeback, and I would love to see them continue!!

Love to my three Js! (Joe, Justin, and Johan)!! :) And, of course, I've gotta say GREAT season to Lliriano, who is done this year :(

My dad played for the Cordele Reds (Georgia Class D Minor league) in 1937. I've found one old photo, but looking for more. I have tried so many sites, if anyone out there has a relative who ever played there, please let me know. Since my dad has passed away, it would mean so much to me to find someone who may have other photos or knows where I can find some. Thanks alot!

I've been watching baseball for years but some situations still have me baffled:
1. What if the batter swings and it's strike 3 but he gets hit by the pitch, Is he out or is he awarded 1st base?
2. What would happen if a fan reached out and caught a fly ball that is in fair territory? Is it a ground rule double or is the batter out?
3. The ball is hit and the ball hits an umpire (in fair territory) . Is the ball in play?
4. To make the game as fair as possible, I think instant replay should be allowed with certain limits. Do you think instant replay should be used in baseball? Why or why not?
