I think its sad that so many people 'hate' baseball. It seems like it's almost cool to hate baseball these days, and lots of people don't even give it a chance.
I think baseball really kicked off our country's sports culture, and is a great pasttime. Sure, it's not as fast paced as basketball or football, but all it takes is an average sized attention span to appreciate its positive aspects. It's got strategy, tactics, and action, all without ever getting violent or overly aggressive (except maybe the occasional brawl!). Football regularly destroys the lives of the players with crippling injuries; you almost never see that in baseball.

for those who do not like baseball, then I suppose it is overrated. for others, hope springs eternal every February when spring training heralds the coming of the new season.
BTW: I think you would find most americans saying that soccer is extremely overrated...yet it is arguably the most popular sport in the world.
