I definitely think that it may be a world series that a New York team wins. The Mets, clearly the strongest team in the NL (but can't seem to clinch their division) and the Yankees have a powereful line up. With the Mets, they have great pitching (aside from Pedro's start the other day), good offense and good defense. Plus they have the best record in baseball and if the NL team had won the All Star Game, the Mets would probably be the best team going into the World Series and Playoffs. On the other hand, the Yankees have one of the most powerful line up in the majors. Most of them are patient and don't take a lot of pitchers, and others are just on-base machines. Now that Matsui is back and Sheffield to return any day now, this could be one of the best Yankee line ups that they have had in years. (As Lessons of Life said, they have great bench players too.) Also, their pitching is good, though they use some relievers way to much (Proc, Frans, and Villone) and Rivera should be back soon.
With the other teams, I am not a smart one when it comes to the NL, so I really can't say much about what the Mets are going to have to face in the playoffs. But in the AL, the Red Sox are most likely out of it (they had their chance when the Yankees got smothered with injuries, then they had to got through their own and haven't done much since the Yankees swept them.), the Angels are almost to the point to not make it. And then you have the Wild Card, the Tigers are falling like all get out, which leads me to believe that Minnesota will clinch their division (Ican't believe I just said that) which would have Detriot and Chicago (who is also faltering) fighting for the Wild Card and one of those teams will play the Yankees in the ALDS. Honestly I think that the Yankees would rather play DET or CWS first than the Twins.
Going back to the NL, I really think that the Mets are going to dominate (even thought I hate them) and definitely make it to the World Series.
Plus the player on both NY teams might like it a lot because they don't have a long trip from on stadium to other.
We'll just have to wait and see.

I think it could very well be the Yankees vs. Mets. The Mets have been the winningest, most consistent team in a decidedly weak NL. And the Yankees have the depth and experience to make it all the way. Also, let's face it -- the Yankees are due. It's just been too long since they've played in the World Series.

I'm from Chicago, so I was hoping the White Sox would make it again. (I'm actually a Cubs fan, though.) But they seem to be choking in a big way.

It looks quite possible right now. Of course there will be 3 other teams in each of the League Championship Series. If either the Yankees or Mets do not make it, I think the team that could potentially beat each of them is Minnesota in the AL or San Diego in the NL. If I had to bet on an outcome, I would say Yankees vs Mets in the WS.

When the season began and everyone was talking about how great the Mets will do this year, I predicted a Subway Series. I think it would be an amazing series if it were w/ these 2 teams. I sure hope that's how it turns out, and that the Yankees will come away w/ another World Series Victory.

I think the Mets have a good shot at making the world series because the NL consist of many weak teams...Yankees don't have the pitching depth nor big game hitters to make it ala Arod and Sheffield...if they make it past the first round I'd be surprised

The Mets will wiln the World Series...because of this...why the yankees will never win another world series....their "devoted" fans!!

1.) balding white conservative with a beer gut screaming for his downtrodden wife to get him a cold one

2.) mouthy *** fan screaming from the stands and throwing bottles or sharp objects at players from opposing teams

3.) benchwarmers for their highschool teams who talked the loudest but never went anywhere in their dreams of glory

4.) cry and complain when George "old windbag" can't buy another world series title with his $3 billion dollar payroll

AND

5.) beats on his kids, plays bumper cars with pedestrians/other drivers, and thinks the world owes him a World Series ring.

Yankee fans need to buy yourself a New York Times and use it as toilet paper for your overhyped, overrated and overpaid team!

paid for by: a loyal Boston Redsox fan tired of hearing Yankee fans whine every year!:)

Not me. The Mets will be there, but the Yankees will choke like they have the past two years!

I do, I think the Mets will be there because they are dominating right now, and Yankees will be there because they are batting way better than most teams in the AL, heck their bench could out-bat some teams.
