I just don't understand how Nascar can fine Jr. $100,000 and 100 points for saying something on T.V. but then Stewart goes on T.V. Sunday and says the same thing and so far there has been NOTHING from Nascar.

I have not had much of a chance to watch t.v. since the race. Has Tony been fined for saying the "bad" word? How about Harvick for the "kiss" he gave Tony's car? Thanks

I've maintained for years that Tony Stewart is the best self motivator Nascar has ever seen.He will rip teammates, media, other drivers and Nascar as a whole. In his quest to light a fire under himself. He's great at it,But heres the rub, while Tony can afford the fine and points Nascar will undoubtably hand out soon and it won't bother him at all. What happens when the chase begins and losing points will bother him, whats he going to do to motivate himself? Can Tony win without the chaos he invokes? I have my doubts, whats your take?

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- NASCAR announced Tuesday that Tony Stewart has been fined $25,000 and penalized 25 Nextel Cup Series driver championship points, as a result of using inappropriate language during a post-race televised interview following his victory Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Stewart, driver of the No. 20 Chevrolet, retains his fifth-place standing in the series points, with his total points reduced to 2,599.

Stewart violated Section 12-4-A of the series rule book (actions detrimental to stock car racing) by using the inappropriate language.

In addition, Stewart's car owner, Joe Gibbs, has been penalized 25 car owner championship points because of the infraction.

If anyone else does anything like he did during his interview Sunday, every column talks and talks about it. I mean a slip of the tongue from Kyle Petty who had an open mic made every column. This idiot knew that people were listening...INCLUDING YOUNG CHILDREN and still chose the wrong word to use! NASCAR you need to reign this fool in a little! WAY TO BE A ROLE MODEL TONY!

I know this is crazy. my wife was into auto racing and after she died last year I thought about the possibility of starting a race team, similar to what Joe Gibbs has done. But I obviously don't have money like that. (I'm still on disability). I've talked it over with several people and they all tried to discourage me due to all the money involved. I don't know. But if you can put together a good team, a good car, a good crew, a good driver, then you can get the money and you can win. I don't see any reason why I couldn't do the same.
Don't ask me why i keep thinking about this. It makes no sense to me. I never gave it a thought until after she died.
If any of you are already doing this - how did you get started? Everyone pretty much has told me there's no faster way to spend money. So? Who cares? oh well, it's just money. What's money anyway. If you want to race you find a way. Right?

INDIANAPOLIS -- Kevin Harvick was summoned to the NASCAR principal's office following the Allstate 400 to clarify post-race contact on the backstretch with race winner Tony Stewart.

Harvick said it was a standard congratulatory love tap, not retaliation for racing contact his team felt might have cost him the race. Thus he won't be penalized, NASCAR said.

Harvick and Stewart were racing for the lead with nine laps to go and made contact, caving in the left front fender of Harvick's Chevrolet and hurting the aerodynamics of the car. Harvick quickly dropped through the field and ultimately finished seventh.

"The car just won't go with 100 pounds of downforce knocked out of it," crew chief Todd Berrier said after the race.

Harvick was not happy.

"He's always the first one to whine about people not giving him enough room, and I gave him plenty of room all day to race, and he winds up knocking the left front fender off, and we wound up finishing seventh," Harvick said. "It is what it is. Just race them how they race you."

Stewart said he made a mistake.

"I didn't mean to get into Kevin," Stewart said. "Winning that way would have ruined winning the Brickyard 400."

But you've got to admit that Jeff Gordon is the premiere driver of his era. Over the last 10 years, everytime you look on ESPN, there's Jeff Gordon winning this race, winning that race. Some people don't like him. But hey people don't like Barry Bonds either and he's still about to be the new HOMERUN KING! He seems to make more money than anyone. Stats say that he's won more championship cups than anyone of this era. He has more endorsements than any of the other drivers. What do the haters think about that?

He was elated and exhausted, but NASCAR didn't care when Junior cussed under similar circumstances, and he got fined for it.

I'm so happy for my boy Smoke, and I don't want a language fine marring that awesome win!
