If you are talking about the infield. Most people have RVs and sit on top of them. That way you see over the pit boxes and are close to the action.

I agree with what they said about most tracks. Since you asked this right after the Indy race, I assume you are asking about sitting behind the pits at Indy (which is actaully one of the few tracks on the NASCAR circuit that you can do that).

At Indy, the fans are actually ABOVE the level of the pit crews, and thus, can see the track, as well as the pits. It's just like sitting on the other side of the track, except there, the pits are closer to you than the track.

There are no grandstands for fans in the infield at Talladega that I can find. If there is seating there (which I don't remember there being any), it is for the media, crews, and others associated with the race.

I love to watch from the pits. It is so different from the grandstands. I wear the headset and listen to everything. Most of the pit boxes have several views of the race on tv screens and fast lap times so it is cool too. Plus watching the teams do the pit stops is great and you can't see any of that from the stands. That is why Iike to watch from the pits.

The race on pit road is as intresting as the race on the track sometimes.
I've watched the events from the top of the transporters. This is an intresting vantage point.

It all depends on the track. I was in the pits at Dover and it was cool but you could really only see the turns in front of the pit box.
