well acutally he learned it from dale earnhardt his crew chief told him to follow dale he said if dale hits the wall then hit it 2 becuz hes doin it for a reason and Dale was THE BEST

On August 4th, he will turn 36 years old.
He began racing quarter midgets when he was 5 years old.
That would mean he has been racing for 31 years.
He has talent, but come on, 31 years.
That's almost as long (35 years) as Richard Petty raced and he didn't start till he was 21.
Can you imagine if Richard had been able to hone his talent since he was 5 years old with top notch equipment, or Dale Earnhardt?
Get a clue, everybody who ever raced with Earnhardt learned from Earnhardt, either voluntarily or involuntarily.
Considering his "skill", his experience, his top notch teams and equipment, his accomplishments in NASCAR should at least be double. Looks like an underperformer to me.
Some people still insist Earnhardt and Gordon were friends.
Earnhardt was a business man. He recognized that money could be made off Gordon so he used him. But he never did like him. The only thing they had in common was racing and a valuable name. Earnhardt had lots of business "friends" but his personal "friends", were like him; outdoorsman, hard-working and self-made.
Gordon has never had a real job and Earnhardt preferred friends that understood work. He liked people who knew what it was like to be hungry. Spoiled brats were not his favorite kind of people.

Passion. Brains. Great team. Good mentors. He won't hang around long enough to pass Pearson, but he will be #3 in wins before his career ends and that will make him #1 in the Modern Era (1972- ).

Keep in mind I really "dis-like" Gordon
He is so good because:
a. he has a ton of driving ability
b. the best equipment on the best team
c. mentored by Evernham who "bent" every rule in Nascar!
Go watch any old Gordon race and you'll see them tugging the front fender out so far that its point at the wall! Nascar doesn't allow this anymore! Hendrick teams get busted at least once a year for "bending" the extremely grey areas in the NASCAR rule book. Call it cheating, call it finding an edge, depends on who you rout for!

Because he has a great team, he is a great driver, and he had a great mentor to teach him how to race in his early Cup years (your Dale Earnhardt)

Yeah. He drives real fast, he knows how to stay out of trouble, and has great communication with his team, so they can make adjustments necessary to improve the car over the course of the race. It also helps to have first class equipment every week, too.
