I have only been following NASCAR since about 2000; I didn't know anything about racing before that. When I started watching the races, I noticed that the coolest looking car on the track was a Chevy with a trippy rainbow paint scheme and #24 on the car. I have biases. I really get off on snazzy paint jobs, and I'm partial to the number 24 (it was the number
of the immortal Willie Mays) and Chevys Later I discovered that the driver of the #24 was one of the very best to ever have taken the track. So it was real easy for me to become a Jeff Gordon fan. But it was factors other than his success that prompted me to first root for him.

A Couple of years ago all my friends were hating on kyle Busch so i watched a race and then rooted for him ever since. And to the person who said nascar is little skill i would like to see you drive around talledega or daytona going 200 MPH flying around the corners. Nascar is more skill then baseball or football.

When I was a kid I went by numbers, I liked the number 9 and 13, so I liked Nadeau and Lake Speed, once Nadeau got out of the 9 though I stopped the numbers and just went with Nadeau. Then in 2002 I went to my first race at Bristol, the 2002 Busch race where Harvick and Biffle got into a fight, and at the end I liked Scott Wimmer cause I thought it was cool he didn't have a sponser and could finish in the top 5, and I met him a few weeks later at Charlotte and he was really cool. Then theres Stephen Leicht, my reason for liking Stephen is I know his cousins Matt and Kevin, they live next to my uncle, so when I visit my uncle, no one to hang out with except Matt and Kevin.

I look at the character of the person. I like Dale Jr. If you watch those who are in the sport - reporters, drivers, pit crews-they all like Jr because he's real people. Many people were upset with his decision to go to HMS but he thought the decision through, consulted with a few close friends, and made the best business decision for himself.
He is fan friendly. He was very concerned about what fans would think about his decision. He is a thoughtful driver on the track. He won't wreck someone just to wreck them. He apologizes for his mistakes. Mark Martin said it was an "honor" to work with Jr-MARK MARTIN! Mark is probably the classiest guy in the sport right now.
JR won't blame someone else for his mistakes(Tony Stewart). He doesn't whine ( Jeff Gordon, Kyle Busch) and doesn't use his car as a weapon(Kurt Busch).
If you can't pick JR because he is the most popular guy in the sport, look at Jimmie Johnson, Mark Martin, or Denny Hamlin. All good guys, too!

Kyle is doing greater effective at seeing the massive image. He does not self destruct like he did final 3 hundred and sixty 5 days for the duration of a race yet he nevertheless flies of the shield after wards. He nevertheless needs to artwork on not putting himself in undesirable circumstances for the period of the race. Aggression is nice in spite of the indisputable fact that it must be controlled aggression,

By the image they present and how they drive. I like Mark Martin because he seems classy, hardworking, and a great clean driver, and Elliott Sadler because he seems funny. Although he doesn't seem to have much luck, bless his heart...
I don't like cocky, arrogant drivers and drivers who knock others out of the way to win, no matter how good they are.
