Major league baseball retired #42 for ALL baseball. No one wears it..except Rivera. Why is it he got special dispensation from major league baseball? I would appreciate a factual answer. Thanks.

I was supporting them ( I love Brian McBride and Clint Dempsey especially), but when they were out I was for England, France, and Germany (in that order) and now I'm for France and Germany.

Because every time he gets a save I hear things like its a new record for saves in a month for a rookie. I thought his rookie season was last year? And if it this year is his rookie year...is he eligible for rookie of the year?
