Because every time he gets a save I hear things like its a new record for saves in a month for a rookie. I thought his rookie season was last year? And if it this year is his rookie year...is he eligible for rookie of the year?

According to MLB.com:
A player shall be considered a rookie unless, during a previous season or seasons, he has (a) exceeded 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched in the Major Leagues; or (b) accumulated more than 45 days on the active roster of a Major League club or clubs during the period of 25-player limit (excluding time in the military service and time on the disabled list).

Papelbon only pitched 34 innings in 2005, so yes he is still a rookie.

He is considered a rookie this year even though he was up in the major leagues last season. He did not appear in enough games last year to lose his rookie status. So, yes, he is eligible for rookie of the year. And, in my opinion, if he continues with the successful 'closer' stats he has compiled so far, he should win it.

yeah he is eligible for ROY cause he didnt play enough last year.

Papelbon set the rookie record for saves by a red sox today with number 25.

with half the season left he could reach 50 and possiblity of 57 the season save record.

in view that your question seems for below one lesson i'd decrease myself on your question status. the fee of humanity is falling aside too right away in in the present day's international as therefore of the which a lot of violence international huge. What we favor to coach is to ask to well known social bindings and human values incredibly to the coming near era. different effective issues would stick to proper away.
