No, Henry wasn't behind the defenders when the ball was kicked. That's the rule. He might've been behind the defenders when he recieved the ball, but it doesn't matter if he wasn't in an offside position when the ball was played (by the amazing and beautiful Zidane)

how many times do i need to answer this question? there are many question that exactly same with u man.. anyway, the goal that thierry henry made wasn't an offside... when zidane kick the ball and everybody try to get the ball but they couldn't... after that henry ran through the ball and he kick the ball .. goaaallllll........
at that time, nobody take care of henry.. that's why everybody ask is that offside?

If u would have watched it with open eyes u would have found that Henry was clearly onside.All thanks to poor defending by Roberto Carlos,he scored a goal.
