I was at work (cashire in a grocery store) and was talking to a co-worker about my up comming trip to France. Well a costomer came in my line and I rang his order up, as I handed him his recipt I began talking to my co-worker again about the trip. The costomer asked me where in France I was going, so I told him - Lourdes. And he got pissed off at me. He almost snorted out 'Why, so see all the shrines?!?' and I said 'Yes Sir' and he stormmed off.

Why?

when someone says, "Christianity isn't a religion, it's a relationship with the one true God."

I find that laughable.

My question is about using humour as a tool for de-stressing a situation, or whether it makes it worse.

I choose Islam as christianity seems to be fairly fair game nowadays, despite the fact that they kick of about childrens films from time to time, at least they don't kill anyone.

Most core religions don't have a sense of humour, but films such as the Life of Brian have gone on to make something as creepy as worshiping a dead man on a cross (graven image) less so.

comedy is a way of accesing a scary situation and making it acceptable, thats why we have 'gallows humour' right?

It seems to me that if a section of society is 'untouchable' than that makes it more dangerous. People with a sense of humour don't fly planes into buildings.

should we just leave religious humour to those who understand it, or can we all join in?

who die tonight from a drunk driver? I hope not. if you are going out... wear your seatbelts and be very careful. if you are drinking... make sure you have a designated driver or call a cab. It may just save your life or someone elses.

other than that... have fun. and happy new year!!

Christianity, the belief that some cosmic Jewish zombie can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him that you accept as your master so he can remove the evil force from your soul that is present in all humanity because some rib woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree?
And this makes sense to people??

I am not against homosexuals, I don't hate them, nor do not disrespect them. In fact I will and have corrected anyone who has insulted homosexuals. However why is is that some people think that is necessary for people to agree with homosexuality, or hold on to their notions that it is makes sense.

You don't have to believe in God or religion; and if you don't you are an open-minded person; a liberal; and nice person. Say anything critical of homosexuality and you are rude, closed-minded, bigot, and mean person.

Is the bible against "the act" of homosexuality yes, but I bet that even if the bible didn't mention "the act" of homosexuality that there will be several people who still would not agree with it.

Every question I've seen today has been littered with "Judgment is upon us, Christians FLEE THE CHURCHES, God is going to end the world in X amount of days!"

Did God give a sermone somewhere that no one heard but these people, and why are there so many of them today?

Given that these are works of fiction - make-believe - and do nothing to steer children towards the occult any more than Mary Poppins does, why do they present a problem to some Christians?

I think everyone in this section who understands evolution (and note I did not say believes in) should answer all evolution based questions with "This question belongs in the science section." Evolution is not a religious matter. Is this a good idea and would you be willing to join in?

Someone said to me that evolution is the religion of atheists. If that's the case, then why do I see so many Christians on this website who believe in evolution????

are christians supposed to marry?

what if you never find (or have yet to find) the person you truly love, up until your 40s? Are you looked down upon by fellow christians?

what if you just don't want to marry or have kids?

By Christians I mean. And this can't involve parking spaces or that sort of 'go to hell'. ;)

I see so much hubbub about this, and yet when I was *not* a Christian --- before I was 26 ---, I don't think this ever, ever came up.

I had many boyfriends and all that entails, was an alcoholic (well, still am, but don't drink now), smoked, did drugs (nothing hard but still) --- I wasn't exactly living a chaste or virtuous life by a Christian's/Bible's standards. There are other things I could say about my 'past life' but I'm not posting this to be titillating, just to note that no one would have mistaken me for a Christian, and I didn't profess to be one, either.

I mean are Christians walking up to people they don't know and telling them this? Again, outside of maybe street preachers or something like R&S which would naturally lend itself to very frank talk about religion --- how often does this happen to you? Has it ever happened?
