He was the Jewish Platonist who interpreted the Torah from a Greek philosophical perspective.
Also, has anyone spoken in favour of Baruch de Spinoza, the Renaissance/Enlightment Jewish thinker who was excommunicated for his rationalist perspective?

We pray for "Gods Kingdom to come and to let his will be done"-Matt 6:9.........what is it that we are really praying for if we are to go to the kingdom of God anyway......

I have known people to be abandoned by their congregation, and maybe even disowned by their parents, if they committ a sin that they view as so great the person can no longer stay among them, lest the others be somehow 'tainted.' Why are these people turned away? Isn't it times like that that they need you the most? Shouldn't you trust your other congregation members to know better than to follow their example? In my church, sinners are welcome. Forgive me, if I sound condescending. I just want to understand.

Why do Yahoo censors claim that questions are not questions?

Are they intellectually challenged?

Is their reading comprehension really so low?

Does their supervisor realize that they are not very intelligent?

Ok my question is where from the Bible can you conclude to say, that God ok with today's thinking of "get saved and choose the church of your choice".
I mean you have where the Bible says one body, ok "one" body..... and for all of you who will bring up John. 15 where Jesus is talking about "you" being the vine...... you can't use that, because it mentions fruits, and if you have a grape vine, it will only produce grapes..... so therefore one vein will not produce many fruits.
An example..... for JW they believe that Jesus is a created being, I myself have taked the Bible to say that He is an eternal being, so therefore it is one book, we can not both be right
Anyways I would like to know your thinking on this.... thanks

I couldn't believe when I heard about this movie recently!! It is supposed to be a "love story" about two gay men and I think its wrong to promote that kind of behavior b/c the Sodom and Gommorah were destroyed b/c of this and I don't want my city destroyed b/c I have a lot of loved ones here including my baby!! Love stories need to be sweet and romantic and its supposed to be about a man finding a maiden or widow that is in need and he rescues her!!! I love those kind of movies and I don't like it when they try to change what a 'love story' is, you know?

Why is it when we hear of children or innocent people being tortured & murdered, etc. You will hear Christians say "God needed another angel. It's God's will".
What I don't understand is why people think that it is God's will for children to suffer or be tortured at the hands of a murderer or sexual predator etc.. If it is God's will, then he wouldn't be the God of love that the Bible makes him out to be. Why do people blame God? Wouldn't it more likely be the wicked inclinations of man because of his imperfect state?

This thread is not for christians.

same as my other post, instead this for non christians only.
other faiths and no faith.
for those with other faiths/religions/spirituality other that unbelief or atheism/agnosticism.

those who believe in evolution- not just speciation or micro but also macro
how does evolution tie to your beliefs and how does it affect it.
what are the differences it would make or has made in your religion/faith for you to believe or not believe.
right now you believe.. how does it affect your faith/religion.
if you weren't a believer of evolution on the macro level, how would it affect your faith and lifestyle.

for atheist and agnostics.
similar question.
how does evolution tie to your belief/unbelief and what difference does it make in your life.
in addition if you did not believe evolution, how would it affect or change your life etc.

again this thread is not for christians.

So I just recently got some Fearie tarot cards, they are wonderful, and I want to make a spread that I can do on myself. I am going to medetate on them when I get home later tonight but I want some opinions on this.

I want it to be a 7 card spread...well actually thats how it fell when I was consulting on it, it is going to be shaped like a fearie so it would look like this.

-----5------
4---1------3
-----2-------
--6------7----

4 and 3 are the wings and 6 and 7 are the feet. 2 lays across one and is the hands.

So what I got out of my consulting was 5 was the head...my veiw
4/3 was myself in the situation and 3 was someone else who may be a factor

1 is the heart and is how I feel...my romantic or otherwise my gut feeling on it

2 is how to fix or work with the problem/situation

and 6 and 7 I totally went blank on. I don't know if I lost meditation conection or what but I could feel that I needed to ask. So does anyone know what 6 and 7 should be? (feet btw)

this is not to argue creation evolution abiogenesis or big bang. this is a simple and honest theorizing.
like. what would it mean if.
im not saying it is or it isnt. and this is for christians only.
i will post a seperate thread for the non christians.

ok.
there are people who call themselves christian who have no problem with evolution, but there are those who do.
i am talking to both groups.

for a christian who believes in evolution.. not just MICRO or speciation- but macro.

how does it affect your faith, or, does it really matter
how do you feel for the unbelievers who use evolution as an excuse to avoid christianity?

for those who call themselves christians and don't believe in evolution.
how does not accepting affect your faith as it is, does it matter, are you more faithful for it?

how much difference will it make to you if you did believe in evolution or if God said that it was true and all you heard from christian apologetics were all disproven just like the fetus sketches.
