I am a Confirmed Catholic however I consider myself to be an Atheist. Having said that today is my Grandfathers funeral and I was very close to him and I would like to do one of the readings at his funeral mass. I have yet to speak with the Priest but through my own research I have decided on Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. Anyone have any other suggestions? Also is appropriate to say a few words after reading as i do not wish to offend the Priest by asking for a minute?

Please name one thing that your religion has brought to the world, or has done for the world that you are proud of. Please specify your religion.

All religions welcome, include atheists. :-)

It can be like that again! Just ask Jesus into your heart and no matter what wrong you have done, no matter what crime you have commiteed, no matter who you have hurt, All you have to do is look up at the sky and say "Sorry God" and ALL is forgiven!--Who cares if the people you hurt forgive you or not? As long as God does it's all okay and they're just persecuting you for your beliefs if they don't!

I am quite serious in asking, as the word meek has always been a hard one for me as I was born with an ESTJ personality which is a leader personality, CEO type, and if we look at how people operated in the Bible, God's leaders, they were not always meek as I think of the word. Exhortation includes holding one accountable, as well as cheering one on, just as parents do for their children, they encourage good behavior and usually have consequences for poor behavior. What human behavior would be seen as "meekness in spirit" thanks

And that Satan planted fossils to distract people from God? I'm not trying to make fun of Americans, because I live in America too. Though to be honest, I don't know many people who think the earth is 6,000 years old. Should I consider myself lucky?

IRAQ WAR > American troops ( approx all are Christians) have killed 40 thousand (40,000) Muslim casualties reported and 200,000 (200 thousand) innocent Muslim civilians injured, on the basis of Weapons of Mass destruction, which has not yet been found in Iraq. http://www.iraqbodycount.net
Afghanistan war >>>>Estimates suggest US bombs have killed at least 15000 innocent Muslim civilians in Afghanistan, on the basis of Osama bin laden, whose involvement is not yet proved behind 9/11 attacks. Condoleeza Rice, in front of media, claimed on 23th september 2001 that America have proofs of involvement of bin laden behind 9/11 attacks. The whole world is STILL waiting for that proofs. >>> Isn't IT TERRORISM? If not, then what's terrorism?

From such high massacre done by Christian community, we can easily conclude that Christians are terrorists. cant we???

I was saved on March 13 for the first time after reading the New Testament for the first time in my life and with spiritual understanding. My hands started shaking and my heart trembling with understanding, while I understood finally God and Science, that there are no contradictions between them, and that while we were created by God, and saved through Jesus Christ in this age, we are still evolving towards God, and in the next age after world revolution in consciousness where most willing receive the Mind of Christ (Christ consciousness) will be responsible for our own salvation.

18 hours later, I was graced and gifted by a separate event, spontaneously and involuntarily, I received a Baptism of the Holy Spirit with wisdom and fire (enlightenment) whereby I united intimately with God in love and eternity, when I came to tears were rolling down my face and I was unexplainably happy, and it truly changed my life in the 15 seconds it occurred, it changed me instantly to a loving, trusting, optimistic and innocent child of God, I truly entered the Kingdom of God to the degree that it is possible in this lifetime. This is an experience that many Saints have had, and I know I was invited on the road to Sainthood, and it’s a daily humility and journey that I will be on the rest of my life.

What about you? Was your infilling of the Spirit a separate event from your salvation? How did it happen for you?

Do you not understand what the word 'omniscient' means? We're talking something powerful enough to create the very concept of life and humanity itself. Such a creature needn't do ANYTHING to understand EVERYTHING.
Your hypothesis must be an example of the mindless non-thinking that everybody talks about with religion.

If God is the basis of all morality, what did Genesis mean when God said "... and He saw light was good"? What standard of morality was He using when he said that - there is no standard of morality OTHER than God, I thought.

If God had merely said "God created light and it was good" there would be no contradiction, in my opinion.
