And that Satan planted fossils to distract people from God? I'm not trying to make fun of Americans, because I live in America too. Though to be honest, I don't know many people who think the earth is 6,000 years old. Should I consider myself lucky?

Not most, but a disturbing number of "Christians" do. Also evolution is a farce, and Noah took dinosaurs on board the Ark. And they want to teach this in public school. And then they wonder why America is being left in the dust educationally by other countries.

And BTW, I'm sorry, but to say "6000 years only marks the time from when Adam and Eve left the garden of Eden" is only slightly less ridiculous.

Note that I get 3 thumbs down for this. Apparently that symbolizes 3 people who believe that the earth is 6,000 years old, or at least that the Adam and Eve legend is history. So there ya go. (Then again everybody else said pretty much the same thing, but I'm singled out for the thumbs downs...I think I have some "fans.")

Well, the point is how can we know how old the earth is? All the dating methods like carbon dating, etc. are flawed and are only reliable for short periods in conditions that never change. That is the problem. Conditions that calibrate a measuring method do change. So the only reliable way to determine the age of the earth is to ask the one who made the earth. So we scour the Bible and we run into a problem. We can follow the genealogies of man, but only up to a point. So some leaps of assumptions are made and that is how the 6,000 number came up. In addition one has to force the interpretation of the six days of creation to mean six literal 24 hour days. The problem is that when God created everything, there was no man alive to record the details. Man was not there to find out what God meant by a day or how long those evenings and mornings were. When the first day was recorded, the earth was already there in pregnant form, as it were. Man was created late on the sixth "day". What a day that was. Adam explored his environment with full curiosity. He named every animal. How long did that take? Then after everything became old hat, he began to be lonely. Then God gave him Eve. Quite a day. And it was late when God created Adam. So those who interpret day to mean 24 hours have to squeeze Adams adventures into maybe 8 to 10 hours. Quite an incredulous feat. However, if those days are longer than our 24 hours, then the adventure is logical and reasonable. But then that trashes the 6,000 year old earth theory. At any rate it is not important. God created the heavens and the earth. That is enough to know. By the look of things it appears that we are closer to the end than to the beginning. In fact in God's revelation of end times to us, we are presently in Revelation chapter 3. Chapter 4 is right around the corner.

This "time frame" is because of the times that are outlined in the Bible. However there are some that take the account that some of the dates are unable to really know and that even carbon dating has its faults.

The Satanic planting of fossils is actually a new one to me and I got a good laugh from it. Thank You!

As far as "guessing" how old the earth really is? What does it really matter because everything is still gonna' fit snuggly in the places its supposed to anyway, whether we want to believe The Truth or not, right?

Consider yourself Lucky? Sure why not? I think you are blessed!

God Bless you and keep you in His Loving Arms!

The earth is more than 6000 years old. Creation did not take a literal 6 days, but thousands, maybe millions, of years, because a day to God "feels like" a thousand human years. The fossils are real! Dinosaurs existed before Adam and Eve, perhaps, to maintain an ecological balance.

Its because you don't understand the earth is older than that even.

Think about it we are told what a day consists of in God's Kingdom. One of God's day is like a thousand of our years. That makes sense when you think that he always existed. Therefore when the Bible says that the Earth was created in seven days it is in His time for our time was not created yet we were not created yet. You see it is logical to assume that the Earth was therefore created in 7 God days which would be 7000 man years.

Many skip over this little bit of information found in many places in the Bible, if you want to see if its true you will have to read it for yourself, you don't have to take my word read the Bible, you will understand more when scientist come out with a finding, they will discover other things, but when you use the Bible as a guide instead of hell fire and brimstone warnings you will realize that it is the story of mankind and how we evolved to become this mixture of races and believers and non believers. The world was that way when Jesus came too by the way, there were those who believed in, didn't know of, or had heard of a God who created and loved them. peace

no. I consider myself christian. 6000 years only marks the time from when Adam and Eve left the garden of Eden. Who knows how long they were there? Also, who knows how long the creation actually took. I believe the whole "created the earth in 7 days" is not to be taken literally. Perhaps 7 eternal days was meant. Anyway, there could have been dinosaurs on the earth pre-Adam and Eve.

Disturbingly, 45% of Americans do, if the 2004 Gallup polls are to be believed. You may not know many people who do, mainly because such people are concentrated in the so-called "Bible belt" in the South.

I believe that the Flying Spagetti Monster planted the fossils to fool all the true believers. Everytime a scientist tries to radiocarbon date a fossil, the FSM changes the calculation with his Noodly Appendage.

Whether it is or not makes no difference to me. I will not base my decisions about GOD on mans so called intelligence. So as for their ability to accurately determine the age of any given thing I put less than 1,000,000th of 1% of faith in.
Have they for sure figured out yet if aspirin is good or bad for you? And with all their so called sophisticated scientific tests, why do they still error and send innocent people to prison for life? I myself will always refrain from giving people undo credit.

Take care and may God bless you spiritually.

No intelligent human being would believe this nonsense. The people that don't believe in carbon-dating sure believe the science behind everything else - medical treatments, technology etc.
