A lot of the inter-religious disputes don't exactly qualify as minor but if you do try to ban religion then you are going to have a lot more violence (attempts to ban religion have typically resulted in the religious idiots becoming very violent).
Though culture can exist just fine without the pollution of religion so you wouldn't be killing all culture.
There is also the question of legitimacy and whether the religions deserve the followers they have now given that the reason Christianity and Islam are so big is because in the past a bunch of people were forcibly converted from other religions rather than selecting the religion because it was truer than what they had already and then their children were brainwashed into it.
Those who ban religion risk facing the same moral dilemma which those of us who simply let religion die out naturally won't have to worry about (since if people leave religion of their own free will without being coerced to or even if being coerced not to then it can be fairly said that they did it because they thought religion had no truth, something one can't say about those who were forced at the tip of a sword or the barrel of a gun to swap Paganism for Christianity or Islam).

The two major religions with the largest population not contributing to peace and spreading violence and hatred , the prospect of the religions help in maintaining peace in the world is inconceivable .In fact all the violence perpetrated to day all over the world is based on religion only. Religions play a double role in the society.they say that all humanity is from the same common ancestors ,Adam and Eve and the same people who say that, are practising discrimination on the basis of skin colour and they do not treat all people alike .So they falsify the religious statements ..Is this not a dastardly crime? Has any priest or prophet raised any voice against such things and required all the people at least of the same religion to be treated alike .Do the Gulf countries treat all the Muslims migrants equally with their citizen Muslims ?
do the westerners treat all the coloured people equally With their own white skinned people even today?
The modern religions have been spreading and they have proved to be the cause of all troubles all over the world .If such religions are done away wit the world will be in peace .But it is impossible to do away with these religions alone .so also it is impossible to do away with all religions also.Because the vested interests are very powerful .You do not need a religion to pray to god and and realise god or worship God .Doing away with the religions is not doing away with the God .

Though banning religion would not kill culture, it would create an oppressive, "big brother" sort of society in which people would not feel free to express their opinions. It would /begin/ with religion, but would continue with political views, etc, until only one creed could survive.
I may be an atheist, but I don't think people should be told what they can and cannot believe.

Your statement saying 'banning all religions means killing all culture" is incorrect religion in not needed for culture.
Culture (noun) - the quality in a person or society that arises from a concern for what is regarded as excellent in arts, letters, manners, scholarly pursuits, etc.
[edit:] When you say ban religion, do you mean just the religion or the right to worship God.

i don't think you'll be able to ban it. i think the solution is to let time take its course. as technology advances, people will start to open their minds more and more. i mean look at the world now. would you say there's more or less religion now than 200 years ago? many more atheists now, i'd think. many more people now who put their minds to science than to some mythical man in the sky. would you not agree? i think the governments of the world could also help by encouraging spirituality as opposed to religion and by encouraging people to not be afraid of thinking for themselves.. that would be a big start as well. but don't ever make the populace feel as if they have to do something because you'll have a revolution on your hands.

The laws in the Constitution apply both freedom to practice religion, as well as specific language to prevent the domination of any particular religion---it is a set of checks and balances. The founding fathers knew fully well that history shows that the bloodiest nations in history have all been Theocracies. The Christian nations of the middle ages commited genocide upon millions of their own people, and the Muslim nations in today's world are doing the same thing. However, in anti-religious communistic states, this has also occurred. The answer is found in societal context. When any ideology is allowed to form a monopoly of power, it becomes the tyrant, unable to see its own evil through the lens of its own "perfect world". When religious ideologies are balanced within nations, the nation historically develops healthier and with more beneficial innovation for all of mankind. Dominance by one religious ideology ALWAYS brings death and destruction, however balance ALWAYS brings prosperity. Ben Franklin said, "Everything in moderation".

Hi... Everyone should have right to worship.. .. so religion should not be banned...... but people who makes other feel that their religion is best should be banned... because either they kill other people or try to convert them......
as evident in history... the number of people killed in the name of god is more than any other single reason.... isn't it enough to rethink......or should we banned only those religion who has killed most human on this earth.. in the name of their god.. or convert /wiped other culture in name of their god.... though they also died without gaining anything......
your question is good........ and we should rethink about the word religion itself.......and of course so called god also......who do not /didn't teach/taught his follower to co-exist
let us all move from darkness to enlightenment.....
Regards

I think religions should all be condensed into one denomination: Faith.
Therefore, there really wouldn't be any religion. Everyone would just have their own personal relationship with a higher being.
When it all comes down to it, I believe that God is the same guy who goes by thousands of different names and faces because no one person can really understand what he is.
We don't have to ban religion. If we could all just unite in one faith, there would be no need to.

Religion has been around since known history of mankind. I don't agree with religions, other than the belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and Son of God. Now I do support your choice as an American and human to choose what religion you wish to believe in.
