I mean if they are angry aren't they more likely to form a negative opinion and see things a certain way so they would see themselves as being right and justified in what they are doing? And wouldn't it be ignorant of us to take a bias opinion as fact?

...if their beliefs are effective fire-retardants?

The data from such an observation will help us, who are living in the real world, design better protective gear for our firefighters.

God bless.

iI doesn't seem to matter if the question is Christian, atheist, science based, pagan, or whatever, a huge section jump to the conclusion that you are batting for one side, and attack the asker, usually without bothering to even read the question.

And many if not most of the questions are posted to be provocative so...

Why are so many of the Q&A posted in R&S motivated by Anger and Hate?

I believe in evolution and that God made the single celled organisms that evolved into other animals and that and that every animal has been designed by God but scientists keep saying that evolution could have easily happened by accident and have proved this by showing the evolution of the eye and ok I agree that is possible but if you look at foods such as fruit and that they have scins that can be pealed of by a human hand and obviously has been given a design that enables us to do that, now they can say the eye happened by accident but I don't believe the bannana evolved just so it could be easily eaten by humans by accident.
Do you agree with me on this?

The Christian church has fallen into thinking and acting like the world when we are to be separate. If we call ourselves a Christian it must mean something to us because we have realized that we can not make to heaven by works as some think or by who we are. And because Christ has done for us what we could not do on our own.

Just recently, my beloved dog was hit by a car & died. He was only 4 years old. Every morning & evening, I would thank God for bringing him into my life for all the joy he brought to me & my husband.

So why would God take away something that I verbally thanked him for everyday? What is his plan for me? he was too young to die.

I realize how weird and creepy this will sound and thats why I'm using this account instead of my real one. I'm a regular here in R&S and lately I've been having dreams about another regular which is something I can't really control but then I started daydreaming about this person too and that is intentional.

Maybe I spend too much time here I don't know. But I do think the world of this person and we have conversed through email outside of R&S and I dont want her to know I'm thinking like this because it might scare her off but I can't get her out of my head!

Has anything like this ever happened to you?

what about people who did die in the crash? And if God wanted you to live, wouldn't it be easier to just not have the plane crash in the first place?

I know there are atheists, but this is how I see the question:
It would seem that animals are the only ones without any sense of the transcendant.

People get passionate over art, politics, economic models, philosophical ideas, we hold beliefs for the future and we get impassioned with ideas and we seem to have a very deep need to have a sense of purpose in our lives which transcends rationality. Whether or not we express this purpose in metaphysical terms or not, it would seem to me that a person without any sense of meaning beyond the material world would be a brute.

So is it possible? Can one truly be without religion?

Please list just the number of the commandment in the 10. Adultery is not homosexuality as it only applies to those having sexual relations outside their marriage. In states where gay marriage is legal and two people who are homosexual are married, this would not constitue adultery. And please, no answers that say, 'Its not in the 10, but..." Just give me the number of the commandment. If there is none, why is this made such a big deal of by the fundamentalists?

I went to a baptist church and the pastor preached repent and
no baptizem are holy spirt.Just repent and follow Jesus
and believe in the crucifixtion and death and God raised the Lord from the dead. That is some of the Gospel Jesus said
to fullfill all that is rightious.Don't believe some of the truth
believe all of the truth. If you deny his word you deny him
then at the day of your jugdement he will deny you.

An encyclopedia of Biblical theology reads:
“The Jewish doctrine of salvation… is based on the fundamental assumption that man has within himself the possibility of fulfilling the law, and he who has fulfilled the law is righteous. Justification is therefore the work of man himself and is, in the strictest sense of the term, his own merit.”

Is this a true statement? If not, then what is? Any other relevant comments?

I view them in about the same light...

do what you want in your own house, (or in this case even church)

but quit doing it in public, and don't force it on anyone to see it, or participate...

enough said?
