I am an atheist,I do good deeds because I think it's the right thing to do NOT because I think god may be taking notes.

How do you explain to a Sunday keeping Christian that the fourth commandment is an important one? Then, after you do, how do you get them to believe that Sabbath is Saturday and not Sunday? I hate getting into ignorant conversations with bull headed people, that cannot open their mind to the possibility that what they have grown to know all of their life could be incorrect!

Yes since it's just a minority thing the same as we don't like Spanish being equal to English we don't like homos being equal to heteros. Since many heteros have a gut reaction (by definition something impossible to control) against open homosexuality why should we forced to deal with it on a daily basis. Many people are bulimic does it mean that I have to like and accept their lifestyle and provide vomit bags in restaurants so that they can do it openly and feel accepted by society?

Just because we have been touched by the noodly appendage and wear Pirate Regalia does that mean we deserve so much abuse from these so called Christians?

Here's a few reasons I though of: Can you think of any more?

Fear: Theists don't want to be sent to hell or excluded from some kind of version of heaven described in almost every religion when they die.

Brainwashed: Most theists were indoctrinated during their infancy to believe some kind of "god". A time when they're too innocent to question a belief because all the people around them don't. "Well if the adults believe in god and they're much smarter than me, it would be right to think I believe in god as well."

Comforting: It's nice knowing some supreme being may or may not be taking care of you in this life and the "next".

Gullibility: A lot of people seem to think that Criss Angel is some kind of demon when he explains his tricks and that he's NOT actually using (black)magic. If you still believe Criss Angel is a demon, imagine how much easier is to believe that god exists. Basically what I'm saying here is: "People will BELIEVE in anything."

If people are good only because they fear punishment, and hope for reward, then we are a sorry lot indeed.

Do you know who said this? If not, I will add the credit as an additional note in due course.

I am not sure I understand. Was it reported because I was stating that I didn't appreciate what she said about Jesus or was in reported because I "re-stated" what she said about Jesus? It wasn't my words. It was Kathy Griffens words. I felt it was a worthy question since she made degrading comments about an important religious Man. I wanted your opinions. So was that worth reporting? In a way I am glad people thought that by me simply quoting what she said about Jesus was even wrong for me to quote. It shows that there are still some people that have tolerance for things they do not approve of such as the belief in Jesus Christ. The E channel is going to censor her comments for the Saturday night broadcast of that show.

Participating in this forum has revealed to me the alarming proliferation of apostate Chritsianity. It should come as no surprise since Jesus himself prophesied this as part f the last days.(Matthew 7:15, 24:24) However, before I discontinue my regular participation in the R&S forum, I'd like to open up an extended discussion ( Over the next few days) about the history of Christendom, that is, the realm of sectarian activity dominated by religions that claim to be Christian.

Or does female intuition have enough sense to avoid this corrupt institution?

PS I'm not saying ordinary Catholics are corrupt (and many leading 'Fundies' are as well).

Well, Kathy griffin is under fire for that comment about Jesus, and then I actually watched Sarah Silverman's DVD and she would explain the difference between Jews and Christians to her kid as "Mommy is one of God's chosen people, and Daddy believes Jesus is magic"
Is that really offensive? And why? I'm really interested to hear your opinions, and the best most thought out answer either way will get ten.

I'm sorry, before I say anything. I'm not here to bash anyone, or be a racist, I just want to speak my mind here. I hate christians, for many reasons. Setting your mind on some book, I'm sure Jesus Christ didn't write is something I find rediculous.I hate it because They are shoving their own beliefs down other peoples' throats saying "The only one and right true way to God is our lord and savior Jesus Christ" Hearing this makes me puke. They think that people who are against their church is against God. They arent aware that their ancestors are forced into being a Christian, threatening to kill them if they don't turn to jesus christ. I spit. I have nothing against jesus christ or God, I respect them both, it's their fan club that makes me mad. They burn "witches"(people accused of being witches, that doesnt mean they are) they burned their wifes and children. millions of people were killed during the Burning Times. All they do is hate.

I'm not talking either about, just for us to have a place to live. If God was real, including heaven, hell, and all that, why would there be an infinite universe attached to the deal? Why would there be so many things we will probably never see or know about? What would be the point of the extra space?

She was only 21... never to have a husband, never to have babies.... She left a family that loves her so much. Thanks guys, it is really appreciated.

He was a student of Oral Roberts, but he had a revelation and started teaching that everyone goes to heaven, and hell is only here on earth. That salvation is for all, not an elite few.

He has been branded a "heretic" by Mr. Roberts.

Personally, I liked his brand of Christianity... what do you folks think?
