I believe Jacob is the Jewish name for James. Jake is a nickname for both.

Jacob is a Hebrew name making it technically of Jewish origin. There are lots of English forms of this name such as Jake, James, Jamie etc...so it doesn't mean your crush is Jewish.

Does it matter?

David(Dave) is Jewish. Matthew(Matt) is Jewish. Bartholomew(Bart) is Jewish.

Why worry if it's Jewish or Christian?

GOD bless
