Religious folks seem to think that this Satan character is responsible for a lot of badness, but why would he bother? What good is a human soul to him anyway? I'd like to know what makes him get out of bed in the morning.

Are Christians so afraid of taking responsibility for their own lives and their own wrong doing that they must create a fictional demonic creature to pin the blame on? I think I've answered my own question, actually. There are few religions that outsource responsibility to the degree that Christianity does. Can anyone tell me, without quoting the Bible (because, frankly, it gets old), why the devil must be used to usurp all individual reasoning? Why don't you all ditch the idea of an evil grandmaster and suck it up and admit that the devil didn't make you do it, you chose to do it because at that particular moment the idea of either heaven or hell had no affect on your decision-making abilities? Why shove it off on poor old Satan? What'd he ever do to you? Once again, try to think for yourself. Biblical verses won't really drive the point home. Sunny anecdotes, perhaps...

I'm pretty sure Jesus would veto his 'turn the other cheek' policy in favour of smacking this idiot in the face for completely misrepresenting every single value he ever stood for

Despite many of you being confused of what a theory (an idea corroborated by a lot of evidence) is, would you agree that the idea of a creator/god is even less than a theory, not having any evidence? Why do you think something having no evidence should be taught along side something with much evidence? I would say that even acknowledging the creation argument is an impediment to scientific progress and education; what say you?

In fact the scientists around the world have found a few, 1st Lucy she is 3.5 million years old, (COUNT THAT people who think the earth is 6000 yrs old) she's only about 3.5 ft tall, but get this she has thighs and hips that PROOVE she walked upright. 2nd Erectus, he was a runner and ran out of Africa and went far and wide, scientists have PROOF he made and used complicated tools, and MIGHT have tamed fire. 3rd theres Goliath named after that fictional charactor, he was big and built structure's, it might have been the first church, but they haven't found any scrolls, you know that whole paper thing. The real freaky thing is that there were others at the same time, but different species like Neandethal, Flatface, Nutcracker named so, do to his huge jaws. It seems Lucy had competition to. It just goes to show life is always competing, In SO many ways. Oh YAH I almost forgot google the Hobbit, I would tell you about it but I don't want to spoil for you people that read this. Isn't thisGR

What about your holy book? It too is your idol. "Have no other Gods before me!" Yet, don't many of you worship these things? Don't Catholics even make the virgin mary a God. How can you convince anyone that you have found the way when you disobey your own God? What say you?

The moral decay of American is due to the fact that too many Christian preachers have become so politically correct that they nolonger preach the Word of God. See Judges Chap. 17, 18 & 19.

But why do some seem to think that Judaism sprang to life fully formed? Jews trace their ancestry to the biblical patriarch Abraham. Abraham and his family were originally from the city of Ur (now known as Tell Muqqayyar in southern Iraq), which was an ancient city in Sumeria.

Sumer was the earliest known civilization of the ancient Near East, located in lower Mesopotamia (modern Iraq). The Mesopotamian religion was the first to be recorded.

Mesopotamians believed that the world was a flat disc, surrounded by a huge, holed space, and above that, heaven. They also believed that water was everywhere, the top, bottom and sides, and that the universe was born from this enormous sea.

Sound familiar? God moved over the face of the what? There are many other 'borrowed elements'. There are no good records from before that (need to invent writing and all), but how much would you wager this goes all the way back to the first sun- and moon worship in an unbroken chain of mutating gods?

It seems to me Atheists and Fundamentalists have a lot in common. Just exchange science for God...both tend to stridency, condemnation and ridicule...

I've seen too many atheists come onto this site and bash religion, and yet no one says a thing to them. However, show any sort of religious belief and you are ostracized. Religious people are often accused of being "closed-minded" (a term which I do not believe has a valid definition) and yet couldn't we equally say atheists are "closed-minded" because they can't accept that some people have religious beliefs? We already know you all atheists don't believe in God, so what point do you non-believers have in coming on here and constantly bashing us believers with any chance you can get? Stop being so "closed-minded" and accept that we believe in God. And stop trying to pursue legal channels in an attempt to make it where we can't even say the word "God" anymore in public you un-American non-freedom of speech believers.

The Quran, The Bible, Jewish teachings all speak of Jesus. They speak of him in different ways, but still speak of Jesus nonetheless. I know that I haven't mentioned every religion (or book) that refers to Jesus in its history in some fashion, but with all the differences between these religions, wouldn't it be safe to say that Jesus did exist in some way shape or form? It seems like that is the only thing most religions agree on.
