Are Christians so afraid of taking responsibility for their own lives and their own wrong doing that they must create a fictional demonic creature to pin the blame on? I think I've answered my own question, actually. There are few religions that outsource responsibility to the degree that Christianity does. Can anyone tell me, without quoting the Bible (because, frankly, it gets old), why the devil must be used to usurp all individual reasoning? Why don't you all ditch the idea of an evil grandmaster and suck it up and admit that the devil didn't make you do it, you chose to do it because at that particular moment the idea of either heaven or hell had no affect on your decision-making abilities? Why shove it off on poor old Satan? What'd he ever do to you? Once again, try to think for yourself. Biblical verses won't really drive the point home. Sunny anecdotes, perhaps...

lol I agree
this is one of the big problems I have with the Christian religion....the tendency to divorce oneself from ones own actions and desires

the good in myself and life - god
the bad in myself and life - satan

Im not saying that all Christians do this or that it is a requirement of Christianity but it does tend to foster this sort of thinking

This kind of thinking is dangerous because it disallows the person to consider the concept further if they simply dismiss it as being satans product - as they will be too scared to consider it further, this being (in their mind) part of satans plan

A lot of people claim that the devil made me do it but that is not what the Bible says:
Jas 1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
Jas 1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
Jas 1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

So we are drawn away by our own desires, the only POWER that satan has is to tempt and deceive

First off, just because you don't believe in God or Satan, doesn't mean they don't exist. That is only your opinion.

Secondly, where have you heard that Christians blame the devil? Because I DON'T blame Satan when I sin or screw up. It's my own doing. He probably has a hand in tempting me, which we believe he is capable of, but it's up to me whether or not to give in to temptation or resist. If I give in, that shows me that it's something I need to work on to become a stronger person. Hope that helps.

devil and Lucifer are no longer even an analogous individual. they have been pushed into an analogous individual by utilising the church. devil is a activity, no longer a acceptance. Lucifer is an angel, no longer a devil. That being mentioned, Lucifer became no longer a scapegoat and the devil became prepare by utilising the church so the recent god must be all good. No god is all good or undesirable. they are in basic terms like us in that appreciate. They do good and undesirable issues, in accordance on your attitude.

you don't have any clue of what you're talking about. know something about Christians before you even open your mouth. the blame is not pinned on Satan. Satan is a deceiver, but we all sin because of our sin nature ...we all CHOSE to sin. Satan cannot make us sin, but he can tempt us. people give Satan too much credit.

I take 100% responsibility for my own life and my own wrong doing. Satan has no part of my life. Though he seems to have many screen names. ;-)

Scapegoat seems to be his major function (blame him for your own acts, blame him for God's actions, blame him for everything)
