I've gone back and forth on this one. As someone who considered the priesthood for a long time, then eventually married, I support the idea of a married clergy within certain limited structures.
I was talking with a friend who is a married Anglican priest, and he shocked me by saying that he fully understands and accepts the Roman Catholic Church's position on celibacy. In his experience, he finds it very difficult juggling the demands of parish life with that of family life.
Which brings me back to my limitations on married clergy. Married clergy could only serve as associate pastors who help sacramentally. They could also serve as teachers in high schools, colleges and the like, since pastoral life is much different in those environments. There, they could teach and earn a good salary for their family while also minstering sacramentally in the school setting.

I guess you mean Roman Catholic priests, because priests and pastors in other Christian traditions are permitted to marry.
My answer is yes. I cannot see anything contradictory between the priesthood and marriage. Priests not "married to God", as monks and nuns are. And their duties can probably be administered even BETTER with the help of a presbytera (what Orthodox Christians call a priest's wife).

They definitely should be allowed to marry.
The Bible says it is better to not be...if a person is truly disposed to be and can handle it, but also absolutely supports marriage and the family as an institution of God.
The Catholic Church, not the Bible imposed this, and even with all the error in it, they will not change - and that is heartbreaking and tragic. If a Priest wants to be unwed or if they want to marry, it is certainly Biblically supported either way. Depends on the person - but God does not impose it as the church does.
With all the harm and molestations, I feel that the Catholic Church is irresponsible, criminal, to not allow Priests to marry.

Of course. After all their people too; having the same wants and needs like everyone else. Why should anyone be restricted? Doesn't make any sense what so ever to me. God did not put this restriction on anyone including priests; that become a self professed acclamation designed by a few other humans who thought that they knew better what was right for another human beings.

Yes. I've never understood this celibacy thing . It makes no sense and has nothing to do with the Bible. If they let them marry , we might get more priests. There is a growing shortage of preists and the celibacy rule is the number 1 reason.

All unmarried persons are "human beings with sexual desires just like everyone else" - not just priests - and, all unmarried persons are required to forego sexual contact with other people - not just priests. There are three general kinds of vocations God calls people to - married, single, and religious. Two of the three require voluntary refraining from intimate relationships. Priests are a minority of those God calls to live celibate lives.

Orthodox priests have been getting married for 2000 years. They are better able to minister to married couples than are the unmarried Catholic priests.

Priests need to be married for more than just sexual needs... although that is clearly important... they need to be loved, have a place to belong, and others to turn to... they need the same attachments as the rest of us to be whole.

Yes priests should be able to marry. They are human beings with sexual desires just like everyone else.

I'm not a Catholic, but I do believe priests should be allowed to marry. It might make for less molestation that has been so prevalent in that church.
