They left me Origin of Species and told me it would change my life. I am not sure I am ready to become a Darwinian.

Hi everyone,
I’ve been on R/S since I became a member here and I answered many questions as an atheist,
For some personal reasons I've decided to leave this forum (and politics as well) and hang around in other forums from now on,
of course, you can always find me in other forums: music, sport, food/drink, health...
Thank you guys,
I respect you all: the Christians and Muslims and atheists…
Good luck,

Gerard Thomas Straub
Writer and TV Executive, former The 700 Club producer

"Here is another example of the way Robertson would mix church and state, rather than keep them separate. Let's say that a Christian thinks God is directing him or her to blow up an abortion clinic or kill a doctor who performs abortions, and this Christian does in fact commit such a crime. In a September of 1984 edition of The 700 Club, Robertson suggested that special church tribunals could be called upon to discern if a believer had in fact received an authentic word from God which compelled him to break a civil law. According to Robertson, if this church tribunal did determine the believer had in fact received an authentic message from God -- how they could reach this conclusion without issuing God a suboena wasn't made clear -- then, Robertson said, the church tribunal would have the civil authority to provide the believer with immunity from prosecution."

Christians, is this a good idea? Why or why not?

So many otherreligions have the right concept and gave their god a name. You christians can't prove that there is only one god. Because if one can exist, so can others. It is like saying that Niagra falls is the only waterfall. True Niagra falls is unique but not the only on on earth. I think you should name your god.

I am studying lots of different types of religions/beliefs and I am unsure about a couple of things. I hope you do not mind me asking.

I have read lots of differing opinions but could people please clear this up for me. What, in your opinion is the difference between being a Wiccan and being a Witch. Sometimes I think people use Wiccan as a term for a Witch also, but there are differences arent they?

What are you? Wiccan, Witch, or both or something else and why did you choose one over the other, ie why you are a solitary Witch over being a Wiccan or vice versa? Is the rituals. routines etc different and in what way different?

Is it right you can be a Wiccan Witch, but you cannot assume all witches are Wiccans??

And finally - if you arent Wiccan or a Witch or have something relevent to contribute - please dont - you arent helping!!!

My discernment says she is a fake because all she ever does is ask for money and talks about success if you give to her ministry. Im not giving money to people who dont need it and live lavishly. If she sold her shoes she could do away with hunger for a year in one or more african villages.

I don't mean the "church's" view because I don't know if the church really takes a stance on that...not that I have ever heard. My question is personally, why do you think a miscarriage happens? Body not perfect enough? That spirit didn't have to come to earth, just be in their body for a short time? Maybe they will be raised during the millenium? Maybe that spirit will come at a different time?

hmmm? is lack or religion to blame or the lack of a proper justice system?

my answer is the lack of proper justice system, especially when its claimed that 80% of the states are christian.... its obviously not lacking religious teachings.

when it's the owner having psychological problems?
I have a friend who's husband is (supposedly) Catholic and they record the Discovery show 'Haunting'. When we're over there, they play it and my friend proceeds to tell me how each case is similiar to this or that psychological phenomena. The husband notices each similarity between that story and any others then drinks or cheers each time a certain part is shown.
If my friend can diagnose each case and her husband can see a ton of similarities between stories but the Church only is supposed to get involved when there's not any other explanation, who's misdiagnosing each case?

So if salvation is by grace alone does that mean that it the application of salvation if by grace alone.

Paul boasted that he had run the race and fought the good fight, he also mentioned about working out your salvation with fear and trembleing. If it was grace alone all the way and once saved always saved why would anyone need to tremble.

Here it is.
If everything before the universe started was in a quantum state of non-exsistance and if observation collapses the quantum wave then if God came along and had a thought or observation like "I think I'll create a universe" then the quantum state would collapse and the universe would come into being.

Mormons are really good at hiding their feels. There seems to be an unwritten rule that if you're a member of the church you have to hold in your feelings. I investigated the Church for a year and had about10 Mormons blow up on me that year.
Three of these were Missionaries, 1 was a Bishop, one was a Mission President, 1 Branch president, 1 member from a family ward, 1 member from a sinlges ward.

Dear Mr Gillies

Thank you for your response. The Guardian will not publish your letter because it appears to us to be untruthful, or possibly part of your sect's ludicrously-entitled "theocratic war strategy"......In addition, your letter appears to be at a certain amount of variance with what your Portuguese colleague told a newspaper there, when a journalist followed up the story, that the NGO status was applied for to assist the WTBTS's humanitarian aid work in the Third World. Was it to do this or to apply much more mundanely for access to the library?

I have the entire correspondence between these two. These are excerpts that fit here.
