Mormons are really good at hiding their feels. There seems to be an unwritten rule that if you're a member of the church you have to hold in your feelings. I investigated the Church for a year and had about10 Mormons blow up on me that year.
Three of these were Missionaries, 1 was a Bishop, one was a Mission President, 1 Branch president, 1 member from a family ward, 1 member from a sinlges ward.

Tick tick tick

This is actually a misconception. This is a culture question. The Europeans stuff there feelings and the Islanders do not, -- the Hispanics are quiet and the Blacks are loud.

This is not a Mormon phenomenon

What did you do to get them to blow up at you?

I've only seen this happen twice, and the person that was instigating the conflict was REALLY dedicated and quite shocking to hear, I couldn't believe how the 1st counselor in the Bishopric could have lasted as long as he did without blowing up, as you say.

Most Mormons are pretty nice and demure...but you'll come across some, who'll be very blunt and seem as a bomb going off, I've met some who are just like that.

2nd Example:

I was practicing a song with a group one morning in the choir section at the front of the church behind the pulpit. This older lady who practiced the organ every morning (I didn't know this), came, sat down, and started to play while we sang. I asked her to join us, we were just getting started. She totally blew up and said, "NO...I'm here every morning to play the organ to practice, you're cutting into my time." I apologized and said I didn't know. She slammed shut the organ, and stormed out of the chapel...my mother was following her, the old lady then turned back and yelled, "F*** OFF!"

Mormons aren't doormats, you know. They're people who'll react like anyone else when harassed, stressed, or simply bothered. Or they're just old, cranky and senile like this old lady was. I just laughed it off and people in the choir told me she was just like that and told me not think of it anymore.

I think there are just repressed people in the world. I don't think it has anything to do with what particular religion they are,.

I live in Salt Lake City and I have met some of the coolest Mormon people (don't get me wrong, there are douches too.) I was actually really amazed because I heard so many bad things before I moved here.

Well, I'm not going to speak for anyone else... BUT I was a "Walking Time Bomb" BEFORE I even became Mormon.

It could be because I was a Catholic, it could be because I am a Scorpio, or maybe I woke up on the left (wrong) side of the bed, instead of the right - AND maybe, it could even be... oh I don't know... because I'm an un-perfect, human being who's PMS'ing, and is stressed out up to my eyeballs with home, school, and work.

:o)

But, that's just me!

Hehe I count 8 in your list, but whose counting? (Oh yeah, that'd be me)

Like everyone else, I wonder what the circumstances were behind these "explosions." It really doesn't fit my experiences in the Mormon culture. Maybe there's something in the water there.

I'm curious as to the purpose of this question. Are you looking for people with similar experiences or justification for their actions or something else?

Where the heck was your branch? You seem to be investigating with some very angry members. Or were you "investigating" by asking blatantly anti-Mormon questions, designed to show your hatred and disdain? This is the only reason I can think of that this many people would blow up at you.

1. What did you tell them? Maybe you are one of these people who start to attack us when you don't agree with our beliefs. Sure, they had to defend. The worst of all is that many people take it personal against us because the only fact that we are Mormons. I lost a friend when I told him that I'm Mormon. He thinks I am going to hell and that I'm lost. When I told him that I believe in Mormonism and that I was not going to convert to his religion ( I was acting nice and we were in MSN ) he stopped talking to me. I was never mean to him but I still believe that someone who calls themselves Christian should not put someone and its religion down, especially when that religion follows God and Jesus.

Hu? I have never heard that, been taught that or even heard other members say they feel that way...those people who 'blew up' on you must have some issues...were you antagonizing them???
I share my feelings whenever I feel I need to.
What kind of "feelings" are you talking about anyways? Our testimonies? Personal problems?

All I know is that Utah consumes the most Prozac in the World - not just the USA, but the entire World. Hum. They are trying to control something.

Uhh...could it be they're just understanding of others? Maybe they don't get upset because they respect others and their beliefs...

I've gotten some of my mormon friends mad before, but they don't show it by yelling or hitting me...
