It comes down to premeses. There are plenty of support structures for each. You need to decide which is the best fit for you. Since their premeses conflict their reasoning will as well. You need to decide which premesis you subscribe to: falsifiability and empiricism or collectivist mysticism and blind faith.

When you sat Creationism, you have to specify. The Doctrine of "Scientific" Creationism is a politically motivated doctrine which was formulated in order to slip religion into science education. It is based on the Doctrine of Biblical Literalism.

There are other doctrines of Creationism that are not incompatible with reality and allow or even indicate evolution as a mechanism of creation. The simplest is: 'God created the universe". Then there is theistic evolution where an "invisible hand" guided the process along. You do not have to choose. Do not confuse belief and evidence. It does no one good.

Is it not possible that God created the structure of life and the processes involved in its variation (evolution) and procreation? I think that most theists believe that Mum and Dad create babies. But god created the method by which they do it. I reckon that that brings the two theories closer together. But, of course you will never get an atheistic evolutionist to agree.
There was a time when some people believed that god made the mountains in the same way that Sartiblartfast designed the fjords. I believe that the mountains are changed by erosion etc. over time. Maybe God created the processes for their formation.

For some people, when they talk about evolution, they mean evolution out of nothing and that there is no God. However, there are a few aspects of evolutionary theory that can be compatible with the Bible.
Believe it or not, the pope - when he was a Cardinal - wrote a great book about "Genesis" that takes into account the possiblity of certain aspects of evolution:

Oh for gods sake (no pun intended). Only the American Bible Belters believe Creationism is as valid as Evolution. The Creation myths are not meant to be scientific.

People are polarized on the two theories, no doubt about it. Did God create the universe? That question is not a part of the polarization. Is there a God in charge of our planet? This question also plays no role.

Evolution is a reality, whether staunch believers in the Bible wish to acknowledge it or not. That does not mean that there is no God.

All of us posture but none will know the truth in this life.

Belief in both does not make you a heretic.

What do you mean? They do separate Evolution from Creationism. They are two different things altogether. I don't care if you pick either one, just don't force your views on people and if you are gonna try to back up your claims you better make sure you know what your talking about because some people know science very well.

Because "creationism" as such usually involves the idea that God created every species exactly as it is today. Evolution argues that species evolved. That's about as simple as I can make it.

And I get a thumbs down for that...lol. I didn't even pick sides. I just explained the difference.

Evolution and Creationism are seperate. Evolution is a science, and Creationism is Theology poorly disguised as science.

The two are quite different. Either a god placed humans on Earth perfectly formed or they evolved over millions of years from an ape like ancestor. It's kind of hard to consolidate those two ideas.
