Have you studied the scriptures as they relate to your beliefs?

Have you prayed to God for guidance in your beliefs?

When studying and praying, have you put away preconceived notions and ideas, and opened your heart and mind to God's direction?

Or do you simply, blindly follow the rhetoric and dogma taught to you by your denomination's leaders?

Are all of your convictions the same as those of your denomination?

Are you the same enomination/religion as your parents?

I think they should be referred to as;
"Laughable myth museum". Or even "Museum of misinformation".
What do you think?

I've read a lot on R&S that suggests religious people feel they know who they answer to, so they are moral, but atheists only answer to themselves, so they are destructive hedonists. I don't see this, when I look around. So all you atheists living good, productive lives--will you share what guides you?

Personally, I feel like humans have an instinctual moral code. We're a social species (we live in groups, we need each other) so there's an automatic distaste for actions that would cause chaos in the community and threaten our survival. On a gut level, I believe an atheist believes stealing is wrong the same way a religious person believes stealing is wrong.

We only get into conflict about whether or not sex is dirty before marriage or whether gays should be left in peace--secularists see these as victimless crimes and have no objection. (I'm clearly a champion of moral relativism...a jaywalker is just not as bad as a murderer, no way.)

If he can't sin, then I guess that means that there are some things that he can't do. That throws out omnipotent/all-powerful, unless your definition of omnipotent and all powerful does not include being able to do all things.

If god is able to do all things, what do you think of the people who said he couldn't, such as in this question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AoOtmoOWQahIcHbKoR6rRRLsy6IX?qid=20070608091420AAVeFi6

U.S. Bible-based museum drop 'Adam' video after actor's risque past revealed

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - A man who plays Adam in a video aired at a Bible-based creationist museum in Kentucky has led a different life outside the Garden of Eden, flaunting his sexual exploits online and modelling for a clothing line that promotes free love.

After learning about his activities Thursday, the Creation Museum pulled the 40-second video in which he appears.

"We are currently investigating the veracity of these serious claims of his participation in projects that don't align with the biblical standards and moral code upon which the ministry was founded," Answers for Genesis spokesman Mark Looy said in a written statement.

Why are STDS in general far lower among lesbian couples than straight couples?

Isn't god being a little discriminatory with his diseases?

I am not talking about your money, so don't get worried. What I am talking about is suppose you went to worship God and be used by Him.Things like:
1.Pray for the message and the message giver.
2.Lend a word of encouragement to a hypocrite.
3.Offer a little help to a single parent (can I watch your little one sometime just to give you some time to your self?)
4.Asked someone if they are lonely and would they like a visit.
5.Invite someone who doesn't get shown much attention to come over for dinner and a visit.
6.Go there with a prayer that says use me Lord however you want to,and please don't allow satan to cause me to be offended.

A previous poster calls for action against Christians.

If there were a worldwide edict that all Christians must be executed or be put into concentration camps similar to the holocaust, would you hide one in your home to save his life? This would put your family at risk of similar punishment. What is your stand on this?

I have countless times in here seen people say kids are brainwashed from birth to be Christians. That they have no ability to break free from it.
That they can not form their own opinions as adults because they were brainwashed...BUT then in the next question/answer
you hear about all these Christians that have found the "truth" and are now Atheists.
How does that work?

of scripture where God has advised someone to do something without an explanation of purpose or direction?

For the purpose of this question it does not make difference whether you believe or not. I need specific scriptural reference, please, and I know that many non-believers have vast scriptural knowledge.

I know someone claiming that God has directed them to leave where they are serving for Him and they feel He has not revealed an answer as to their next step(s) or the purpose this would serve for them and their family. This is troubling to me in that I have no experience or reference to this being the nature of God.

Abraham and the sacrifice God imposed, God's explained why and later brought a substitute - but there was explanation.... TheJews were led out of Egypt -directed to the Promised land, they didn't know where it was - but had a place to go

Specific references are most appreciated and general reference to book/chapter is gratefully received as well.

Thx

Why have there been so many religious wars?
Even disregarding what some religions have done to others not of their belief, what about the wars within.
At this moment Shia are fighting Sunni in Iraq.
It was only a few years ago that Catholics were fighting Protestants in Northern Ireland.
So much for peace and tolerance

There is host of examples where Muslim religion brings warfare & conflicts:
September 11
Middle-East conflicts
Warfare between Sunites and Shiites
Bomb attacks in India, Turkey, Thailand, Indonesia
etc.etc.etc.

Nevertheless Muslims keep on thinking and claiming that their religion is a source of peace. I'd like to get some examples in which Islam is really a source of peace for Muslims AND for non-Muslims... --- In case such examples exist ---

cleanliness was next to godliness? No soap, no toothpaste, no toilet paper or other sanitary stuff. You read about them washing their feet a lot but that was because they wore sandals and the streets were muddy or dusty and some did that before going into their homes or temple. I suspect that the personal hygiene of Jesus and the people of his era would be considered quite gross compared to the standards of today.

Never had one, i hope i never do. My aunt did, however. Her old house was haunted. She would wake up in the morning and forks and knives would be sticking out of walls and electrical sockets and the ceiling.. Also there was a constant slamming of drawers and doors upstairs when no one was around. Also she would wake up in the morning and the previously closed doors and windows would be wide open, including the front door.

Also my friend contacted the ghosts in her grandma's house. Turns out there are 5. and they all do things regularly around the house like move furniture and hide remotes and car keys and such. The same friend's cousin can see them. Her name is emily and she is 8 years old. My best friend would never lie to me, and she contacted them on the ouiji board, and talked to them all. Also, she said that the ouiji board is impossible to get rid of, like they tried throwing it out and such, but it kept re appearing... is that supernatural?

I think all of us here will be on the same page in regards to pedophilia, it is a disgusting assault towards a child..NOW here comes the question who determines what is a child? We have laws that say you cannot drink alcohol until 21 you can be 18 to vote and you can emancipate at 16.

And who determines who is a Pedophile? On the Catch a Predator I was amazed how many men that were married active Military, Law Enforcement,
Homeland Security, Rabbis' were all coming to homes thinking they might have sex with someone underage, but these kids had been talking on-line with these people very sexually. The show Girls gone Wild show teens in basically in dog and pony sex shows and tapes are bought by men, I am sure some pedophile's and some not. If we don't set a Standard of Morality with Sexual behavior how can you ever define what's appropriate and what isn't

Some people see the pastor and his wife at my church all the time and the first thing they think is that there rich and the congregation is poor. What they don’t know is that the pastor’s wife is a doctor, the people in the church are business owners, doctors, lawyers, stock brokers, real estate executives, etc., etc. These are people who serve God, and give to God’s house, therefore the house continues to grow in abundance!

Why would God want his people to live any other way than well off? Not saying we all have to be filthy rich, but some are and what’s wrong with that? You DO NOT have to be poor to serve God!

God blesses the work of your hands!
Psalm 128:
1 Blessed are all who fear the LORD,
who walk in his ways.
2 You will eat the fruit of your labor;
blessings and prosperity will be yours.

If this is what you truley believe, how come you do not make this known publicly when preaching door to door and on the cover of your magazines. Jesus actually being Michael is a HUGE thing to believe and teach. Many of my family are Jehovah's Witnesses and have never brought this to my attention, I found out about this through my own research online. Are you ashamed of what you believe or do you just not really believe it or did you just not know that either? Just curious because I was blown away when I found this out.
