is there this great layer of fossilized creatures and humans that your "scientists" discovered to prove there was a great flood? it should be pretty close to the surface too because it happened relatively "recently"

I have seen many web sites that generate inconsistencies through taking verses completely out of context. The person with the most legitimate inconsistency gets 10 points!

An example of a very legitimate contradiction was the account of David's encounters with King Saul in 1 Samuel 16-17. He seemingly keeps getting reintroduced to Saul; however, when you look at what the author is doing with the passage, he's trying to show you how David keeps on popping up in David's life, building up Saul's jealousy.

Give me something challenging =)

Some keep the Sabbath going to church;
I keep it staying at home,
With a bobolink for a chorister,
And an orchard for a dome.

Some keep the Sabbath in surplice;
I just wear my wings,
And instead of tolling the bell for church,
Our little sexton sings.

God preaches,—a noted clergyman,—
And the sermon is never long;
So instead of getting to heaven at last,
I ’m going all along!

For most religious theists, their religion and god provide the basis for their entire understanding of morality and values. Because of this, some find it inconceivable that atheists who don’t believe in any gods and who have no religion could possibly have a basis for morality or even understand what true moral behavior really is. Many go further and argue that this is a good reason to reject atheism, that it leads to immoral behavior, that it cannot account for the existence of morality, etc. None of these arguments hold up because they are based on false premises.

I recently moved to a new house which I now find is haunted by a ghost. Most of the time it is quietbut it likes to walk about and make a noise in the night usually between 3am and 4am. It also seems to dislike visitors and causes most trouble when I have guests. Recently at a dinner party a plate flew off the dresser and landed about 6 feet away. It also likes to move paintings on the wall. How do I encourage it to go away?

...but then turn around and read their kids stories from the Old Testament?

Reading about wizards, sorcerers, etc. is harmful and detrimental to a child's mental and spiritual health; but reading about the inhabitants of entire cities being ruthlessly killed is somehow beneficial to them? I must be missing something here.

Ok, I know you are all thinking "what!?" when you read the title of my question. I used to pray every once inawhile but then I stopped for probably about a year now, and now I don't know how to do it properly. I feel the need to recently because of medical problems and stress from school and such. But I don't want to be like : Dear God, this is what I want can you please do it? .....Because well that doesn't feel right and it doesn't feel like I should always be asking God for something (being selfish), even though I really do feel I need help from God because of what's been going on in my life and I'm not a selfish person at all...I try to but then I think in my head It just sounds stupid..It's really bothering me, and I'm not going to phone my pastor (I am a lutheran) to ask her because well I just don't want to.

...is that I don't CHOOSE to be athiest. My instinct tells me that a religious God doesn't exist, and I am in no control over my instinct. Therefore, I have no control in whether I believe in God or not. Trust me, I would give anything for there to be an everlasting afterlife of rest, but my mind just can't believe it.

There's no choice to be made here. You are either made to believe or made to disbelieve. There is no free will involved.
