Why do people worship inside a church, instead of worshipping outside?

What a beautiful little poem. I'd never read it before.

But to halfway answer your question... in most of the NeoPagan religions, worshipping outside is preferable to worshipping inside, because when we worship outside we are immersed in the Divine-in-nature.

One of the most powerful services I ever attended was out in the woods, beside one of the largest lakes in North America, during a full-out thunderstorm. Standing there in the grove with the sweet earth beneath my feet and my face upturned to the pouring rain, I felt utterly embraced and enfolded by the presence of the God and the Goddess.

(And I've certainly heard of some Christian sects that worship "down by the river"... :-) )

Even Solomon himself ackowledged it in 1Kings 8:27 But will God really dwell on earth? the heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain you. How much more of this temple I have built?
In 2Samuel 7:..you can read God's word to Nathan regarding David's plan of building a temple for God.
God has always been with His people wherever they go. We are the church and those buildings that you see are just assembly halls where most faithfuls are gathered together to give thanks and make offerings. Your worship of God is yours to do in your own time and in your place. Joining the assembly may help you with knowing what is needed by the community, what you can do to the community as a way to share the gift of God. It is up to you if you think you can be more of service to God by staying inside your house. There are people that believe they can get their strength through praying and working together with people in the community. Emily Dickinson believe she can do it herself. She is not expressing that for others to follow but it could be better than doing what your heart says otherwise.

you know something you bring up an interesting point why do people need a building to worship god why can't they do so at home with a couple of people or whatnot and that way you can save some money but then again the money does play a part in it i guess
