How to pray.?

Question

Ok, I know you are all thinking "what!?" when you read the title of my question. I used to pray every once inawhile but then I stopped for probably about a year now, and now I don't know how to do it properly. I feel the need to recently because of medical problems and stress from school and such. But I don't want to be like : Dear God, this is what I want can you please do it? .....Because well that doesn't feel right and it doesn't feel like I should always be asking God for something (being selfish), even though I really do feel I need help from God because of what's been going on in my life and I'm not a selfish person at all...I try to but then I think in my head It just sounds stupid..It's really bothering me, and I'm not going to phone my pastor (I am a lutheran) to ask her because well I just don't want to.

well kate what you have written is just what you should be telling GOD. prayer is a time to ask for things sure but it is also a time to do just what you have done considered yourself and your actions as they relate to GOD .
i suggest you just talk to GOD just as you have written to us.
of course you know to pray in the name of Jesus . do this
and i think God will be pleased to hear from you .

Great honesty. Simply try that same approach with God. Just be honest. Say, "God, I feel kinda stupid asking you for these things, but I sure need your help, to guide me and possibly help me get well. Goodbye God, I will check back with you tomorrow."

This how you should start . Fast one day get on your knees and Say God please forgive me my sins clean me out God so i can be whiter then snow. GoD you know whats going on in my life right now and i need your help please God help me Hear my prayer . and ask him w/e you want him to help you with . Don't be ever ashamed to ask God for anything. you probably feel selfish becuse you havent been following his commandments you know you have been sinning. So just ask him for forgivness and on.

I pray for all the sick and afflicted ,Help those with out shelter and those with no warmth ,We pray for Our government , and the soldiers to come home safely .Thank you for giving us the healing that we need . It doesn't matter to God how it sounds, as long as it comes from your heart, sincerity, compassion, truthfulness. be open, think of what you think his face looks like, on your knees, somewhere by yourself. be patient and pray everyday, with a heart felt heart, pray for protection.
