Don't be so fast to answer,

388,000 year old Homo Erectus burial grounds were discovered in 2006.

Source: Discover Magazine

Obviously it might be a stretch to think 3,800,000 years ago Australopithecus was decking the halls with balls of holly,

but when in "human" and "common ancestor" history did we start burying our dead and having holidays do you think?

I am doing an assignment and I am not religous. I was wondering if any Catholics out there could help me answer these questions? I cant find much on the internet, and I would like to know first hand from someone who practices the religion

Do you practice a religion? If so, describe. If not, do you have family/friends that practice a religion, please describe.

Are there dietary laws, restrictions, etc. within this religion? Describe.

Are there special days that are practiced in this religion? i.e. holidays, fast days, sacrament day etc. Describe these days.

Describe any thing within this religion that relates to food.

Do you participate in the food and religion practices of your culture/religion? Please explain.

I see many people on answers claiming that religion is 'mind control,' as if religion was created by One Evil Sod back in the dark ages. And while I myself am a hard atheist, I wanted to pose this question in the hope of receiving some interesting answers.

Religion has been around since early man praised or feared the elements - gods of fire, thunder, and the wind are commonplace in early mythology. It's a product of *misunderstanding*. When people were unable to understand how weather systems worked, there were gods of weather. When people were unable to comprehend that the stars were space-bound furnaces, the stars were called gods. As elements and forces are marshaled and used by humans, these gods become outmoded and quaint.

Given that the average person has almost zero practical knowledge of physics, is it any wonder that today's gods are gods of origin and creation, who make all the hard questions about the birth of the universe easier to deal with?

Isaiah 9:6 "Unto us a child will be born, a SON given, and he will be almighty God, and the prince of peace."

perfect prediction 700 bce before Messiah came!

Isaiah 52:13-53:12 "He will be exaulted. He will first be marred more than any man. He will be despised and rejected, and lay down his life as our atonening lamb for our sins. He will die with the wicked and be burried with the rich. He will see his seed and prosper."

well who is Jesus to you? some say he is nothing to them, or dead, -well as a Jew till I let him into my heart to forgive my sins as he asks-he was nothing but a cuss word to me!

read his words John chapter 3 to Rabbi-"Except you repent Rabbi and be born again you can not see the kingdom of heaven." Revelation 3:19&20 (1:1 spoken from heaven-Revelation reveals)
I Jesus love you and ask you to repent and turn to me from sin, and behold i knock on your heart door to come in and become your friend, if you ask me in repenting of sin.

King David said in Psalm 131, "I have quieted myself as a child at it's mothers breast."
Did Christ mean we need to be unworried?
Isn't it our own doubts and fears, that stem from guilt and shame
for the way we sometimes behave, that causes us to run away from our Creators Love?

From all the people posting here who are sure they are going to heaven for one reason or another, it sure seems like it will be filled with a lot of buttheads I would not want to be in the same room with for more than five minutes, let alone an eternity. Maybe heaven will be my personal hell.

Why Adam was created perfect while all of us are created imperfect (according to Christianity)?

I think sin is a result of imperfection NOT vise versa.

Think of my question before pressing the answer bottom.

Hey there!

I was reading something today about how part of my church is seperating from us becuase of our acceptance of "non traditional" unions :)

Anyhow, it mentioned that jesus never said anything against homosexuality or sexualaity in general?? Is this true? I know I haven't read anyhting that says this but it wouldn't be the first time i missed somthing while reading.

Also, it made an interesting point about this church (episcopal). It mentioned while he never said anything about gays, he did specifically mention divorce as a "sin?" Why is it these groups ignore this and focus on the other issue not even mentioned in the new testament? And why is it when they quote Leviticus they pick the homo thing as being a sin but don't address the fact the mention that stoning should occur in cases of adultry?

Am I a liberal nut or am I missing something?
