Hi Lily,I am presuming that you mean a Catholic nun, the criterea is that you are single and have an awareness of the importance of your vocation to the religious life, many orders will accept you as a novice without great fuss these days so perhaps if you can make an appointment at your local convent and speak with the novice director.
Jeanmarie, this member only asked for advice on becoming a nun,did you have to give her all this diatribe against the Catholic church? as for Catholic doctrine being wrong what exactly do you mean? post your oppositions for Catholics like myself to answer your criticisms, or give it a rest.

The decision should not be forced upon nor should it be assumed as a way to free oneself from one's sins. The decision should be taken whole-heartedly with the sole intention of serving the Lord (and His people).
Its very tough dear, once you are committed you can not come out of it. Think well before you become a nun.

I know of a man who wanted to become a Roman Catholic priest. Right before he entered Seminary he decided to read the New Testament.
He's now a member of the Christian Church.
He realized the RCC believed more in man's traditions and not in the Bible.
Read the Testament for yourself before you do this:
Jesus had brothers and sisters. Joseph didn't have sex with Mary UNTIL after Jesus was born. Jesus was Mary's FIRSTBORN son not ONLYBORN. There is a greek words for first born and greek word for only born. Church tradition according to Eucebius says Jesus had brothers and one was the leader of the church in Jerusalem.
We aren't to call our spiritual leaders "father". We aren't to have idols of any kind. There is one mediator between God and man, Jesus, not Mary. The dead do not hear what happens under the sun so Mary can't hear out prayers. Mary is only mentioned once after Jesus' ascension and that was in a prayer meeting, that's it. Mary needed a savior so she was NOT sinless. No where does it say Mary was sinless or her father was the holy spirit OR she was taken up to heaven without dieing.
There are all RC teachings and are all non biblical. ANd there's more!

These are the following criteria:
1. Strong guilt over human sexuality and a deluded thought that abstaining from it is spiritual
2. Heavy-duty guilt based on extreme conditioning that one's nature is sinful

To add to what Ivory Tower said, you have to be Catholic (as far as I'm aware) and not married. If you aren't Catholic, there is some sort of education you have to go through to convert.

Fortunately, spelling is NOT one of them!
1.) You must be female.
2.) You must be Christian
3.) Ah, that's about it.
