Or does it say?

What would you do if your love interest became a religious nut? Sadly that happned to me- I dated a woman who was very cool and down to earth- than whammo, one day she decided she was a born again Christian. . After months of her trying to convince me to give myself to Jesus, and my trying to convince her to get psychiatric help, we split. But Im convinced religious zealotry is a form of mental illness, be it Christianity or Scientology... Ever have a relationship tarnished becuse your significant other went on a religous bender? How do you snap them out of their delusions? I really cared about her, but she needed help- but thrived in living with her delusions....

As I paged through the questions today it occurred to me that some of our difficulty in understanding each other is that we do not truly understand the word FAITH. Those who do not believe in a religion or Godhead likely do have FAITH in something, even if only in themselves.

To participate in discussions such as these, it is essential to understand faith...and that faith is not about proof.

FAITH - noun
1. confidence or trust in a person or thing: faith in another
2. belief that is not based on proof: faith that the hypothesis will be substantiated by fact.
3. belief in God or in the doctrines or teachings of religion
4. belief in anything, as a code of ethics, standards of merit, etc.:
5. a system of religious belief: the Christian faith; the Jewish faith.
6. the obligation of loyalty or fidelity to a person, promise, engagement, etc.

Without belittling anyone else, could you explain what you do have faith in, whether it is a God or not?

what if you knew a guy that said that loved a girl, but he has a different religion than her, from different nationalities. Different goals, minds, etc...
She dumped him because religion and objectives in life.
She changed her phone (cell) number to avoid him, but he always kept insisting, and got a way to call her. (at work)
She hung up on his face so many times and he didn't stop calling her.
He had to go to his home country, and he calls her from there.
She's living her job soon (for other reasons) and he said, that when he comes back he will find her, he's going to follow his heart in the city that she lives in, and will find her.
She doesn’t trust him, he lied before, she doesn't trust him, and he knows.
She's not going to convert to his religion, and he isn't converting to her religion.

What do you think about the guy?

many people hold this "box" or "bag" over their head, and refuse to take it off to look around, because they are afraid of what they will see? they are afraid to leave the boundaries of their little box and open their mind to new ideas?

why do you think this scares so many?

Is it our responsibility to cater to their need to convert us and to go to their Church and be subjected to gawking and gossip? Is it our responsibility to live by their morals and convictions?

Anthropologists, Genetic Engineers, in short : all my fellow 'people of Knowlege'....We have always been discriminated since the 3 Monotheistic Faiths took over the control of our Planet, we've always been compelled to 'hide' and yet, dwell among believers, in order to protect and preserve our Knowlege = the Truth, as well as Mankind, saving it from becoming a hopeless slave to Religious Leaders. Our path, although directed to the very same goal = Knowledge, has always been an individual path, and that's been our strengh as well as our limit too; Isn't it about time that we all come together worldwide (no need for us to share our Knowledge preaching), simply uniting all the knots of our 'invisible' net, and materially stand up against this delirious religious fever that's been killing millions of people during the last 2000 years? Shouldn't we make our voice heard? Union makes Strenght;) Was just wondering...what do you think? Should we?;)....

Why people get very far of perfection by choosing their religion?
i do NOT want to insult one's faith.but all of the people who read alittle about history know there was only ONE religoin that god shows to us.by pasing the years & centuries it got complete by the messengers of god & a wisdom human understand it.then why some people choose a religion that in their divine book is noticed the after messenger & notice that it will be complete by whom,i think the reason of that is completely political.what do you think?

a bit more "bearable" and "in between" hell and heaven. If it's "between" isn't that called Earth? =(
I know that it says that we must suffer from our sins (for cleansing our soul) before ascending to heaven (cuz heaven is said to be "pure"), but how much will we have to suffer?

And, last question, how do we know if we are going to be sent down straight to hell or the purgatory? Bcuz hell has no chances of getting into heaven, at least purgatory does...

Then you guys are sinning by eating shellfish, and this display of racism i see is also going against what is written, (along with many many other things u do...)

Exodus 22:9
9 "Do not oppress an alien; you yourselves know how it feels to be aliens, because you were aliens in Egypt.

So Jesus came to "fulfill" the law as u say, i fail to see how you interpret fulfilment as negating. i have yet to see someone point out the verse where jesus says, "you CAN eat shellfish now" or anything else that you say he negated.

Early in January 2007 I had a dream in which I was told that the person in the casket was X, a youth from the community.I saw a cloud of people in the corner of the room/ceiling.I recognized one person who had died in September 2006;but I did not know him personally.Iam new to this locale. The body was about to be lowered into the casket and I said I could not watch because it was too painful.I didn't see the person closeup but I know it was a male and the eyes seemed glued down.I was told he had drowned.I went to the next room and someone was giving out papers the size of a 3x5 card folded in half the short way. My Mom(dead) sat next to me and wanted to know what was on the paper. She was curious in life and always found out anyhow.I gave the cards to her each time.Well,a youth in my community had the flu,fainted3x and had to have CPR. His heart stopped and they could not find a heartbeat.Anyhow, they revived him, thank God.Do you think this is coincidental or was the dream relevant?

I'm just wondering - how much would the average IQ rise if we killed all the fundamentalists.

Different question - if we killed everyone with below average intelligence - would religion survive in anything like its current form?

I am not interested in converting, but I know that they don't believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ, neither do they believe in the Holy Trinity. If such is the case, can JW's be considered Christians? But they do baptize members, and celebrate the Eucharist... Why would you do this if you don't believe in Him? This question is NOT to bash anyone, and I'm just asking out of curiosity
