I agree. The Christians are easy targets because they tend to be the tolerant ones.

All faiths (and lack thereof) get insulted and mistreated at some point; you're probably just more sensitive to intolerance directed at the group you identify with.

It is kind of strange to hear the majority religion talk about being 'persecuted' - simply because a small minority resent efforts to force that faith on members of other faiths and their children, using government agencies for religious indoctrination. I'll be the first to grant that some atheist efforts are preposterous - such as objecting to a tiny cross on a county seal (the pagan goddess was apparently OK), or trying to prevent the graves of war memorials from bearing the religious emblems of the fallen. On the other hand, calling it 'persecution' indicates these people have *NO IDEA* what real persecution is; there are places in this world where people still kill Christians (and others) for no reason other than a difference in faith.

As for intolerance, it was the Christian majority of Americans who said they would vote for a homosexual or a convicted murderer before they would choose an atheist for public office. And it was the Christian Bill O'Reilly who said that 'atheists want for there to be no morals so they can impose their policies of death' (paraphrase of Talking Points 12/5/05). What are we to call that?

Cuz people have totally abused the word tolerance. You're right, it means "please accept me and whatever I want to do" -- Christians dare to stand on the absolute truth of the Word of God. It's been foretold that we will be persecuted, and that in the end, evil will be called good and good will be called evil.

As for Christians being a majority?? Where ??? I have lived in a big city and a small town, and in my experience, I am a minority in a big way. Just because people go to church or claim Christianity doesn't make them Christians. I've found very few people that actually live the Christian life. If there were, this country would not be in the state it is in.

good question. i am a muslim and i face what you are saying every day. see tolerance can only go so far in the real world. i believe that if every one shut their mouth and just worshipped among others who feel the same way they do when it comes to religion then there would be a lot less violence. also one major thing that needs to be done is people of different faiths need to stop attacking others religion for political reasons. through out history you have seen this and the christians are far from innocent on this matter! people need to respect others for the sake of allah (god) god does not tell us to hate one another for no reason but we as humans do fight one another for the right to exist in the world. why does any one fight in the first place? for power. some money. when christians are quiet as well as jews, muslims, what have you about their religious beleifs then this world could go alot smoother.

I think most people can tolerate Christians as long as they aren't too vocal (i.e. pious and superior) about it. If you have a belief, then it is a personal thing for the most part and you shouldn't try to force it on others. When I was at school, people used to make fun of me for going to church, but hopefully that largely passes later on. I think a lot of people only tolerate what suits them, even Christians.

Funny how they keep saying we're "shoving our beliefs down their throats" when most of the questions are nothing but anti-christian propaganda from them. Rabid atheists are every bit as bad as the worst of the evangelicals, actually worse. If the nonsense on YA in this section is any example of atheist tolerance, then they're proving they don't have any.

Actually it is the christians who don't tolerate others, they don't even tolerate eachother. For instance the Mormons don't tolerate any other religion; the Jeohava witnesses they don't tolerate any other religion either, the same with pentecostals-seventh day adventist- the babtist- the assemblies of god all other ministries, even the calvary chapel people. so on and so on.

I think your right. I heard a minister on the radio say that he was tired of anti-Christians behaving as if they had a perfect country and then the Christians came along and tried to spoil it with their religion, when in fact this country was started by Christians looking for freedom.

I'm also tired of the anti-christians bashing The Faith because of the acts of people who claim to be Christians when their actions prove that they're anything but.

I am tired of Christians saying they are being prejudiced.

If your religion was kept as a personal choice, and you choose to teach it to your children in the privacy of your own home, nobody would say anything.

the problem arises when you wish to impose it on others. For example I have seen many references to a wish to return prayer into schools and town meetings. this is clearly an impingement of the rights of others.

You have tax free churches, occupying some of the most valuable real estate in the world. You have your own universities. You control the Republican party in the US. I could go on and on.

How exactly are you being prejudiced or oppressed?

It seems that's the way of the world. Freedom of speech and freedom of expression is something almost everyone agrees on. Unless they don't agree with you. I'm not a christian, or an atheist for that matter. I live for the day. Often times I disagree with others ideas but I still like to hear their point of view.

It's just that most people want others to just leave them alone.. not so much accept their ways, but accept that others are different and move on.
Most christians on the other hand, are the among the most vocal, intolorant and hateful people who push their beliefs on others and condemn those who do not agree.
THAT does not have to be tolorated.
