Christians used to torture and put people to death for speaking sacreligiously about God or sacred things. It's still a grave sin, from what I understand - and the bible clearly outlines how to deal with those who are accused of it. Death. Why has man seen fit to ignore this rule?

Kohlberg described 6 stages in moral development:

Level 1 (Pre-Conventional)
1. Obedience & punishment orientation (Do it or suffer)
2. Self-interest orientation (What's in it for me?)

Level 2 (Conventional)
3. Interpersonal accord & conformity (The good boy/good girl attitude)
4. Authority and social-order maintaining orientation (Law and order morality)

Level 3 (Post-Conventional)
5. Social contract orientation (Greatest good for the greatest number)
6. Universal ethical principles (Principled conscience)

When you consider the moral teachings of your particular faith, doctrine, or discipline, how do their teachings fit into the particular stages of moral development described by Dr. Kohlberg?

"Ye have heard it was said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, Do not resist an evil person: but whosoever smites thee on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sues and takes away your coat, give him your cloak also. You have heard it was said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? Be ye therefore perfect as your father in heaven is perfect." -Mathew 5

Our word "demon" comes from the Greek word "DAIMON". Daimons were not necessarily evil.

"For Greeks and Romans, daemons ('replete with knowledge', 'divine power', 'fate' or 'god') were not necessarily evil. Socrates claimed to have a daimonion, a small daemon, that warned him against mistakes but never told him what to do or coerced him into following it. He claimed that his daimon exhibited greater accuracy than any of the forms of divination practised at the time. The Hellenistic Greeks divided daemons into good and evil categories: eudaemons (also called kalodaemons) and kakodaemons, respectively. Eudaemons resembled the Abrahamic idea of the guardian angel; they watched over mortals to help keep them out of trouble. (Thus eudaemonia, originally the state of having a eudaemon, came to mean 'well-being' or 'happiness'.) '

...of black ice in the road and she lost control and died at the scene of the accident. While watching the news that evening, I learned of her terrible tragedy and also learned how great of a person she was. She had just gotten her license to practice law...just passed the Bar Exam. She was very talented in that she played the piano and flute. Her family said she was beautiful inside and out. She was a really pretty girl and she looked like she was a good person, going by her picture. She had what everyone thought was a bright future ahead and so much going for her and her family said she was a good girl. Now...WHY does someone like that get taken away and others are left behind that are so mean and have no life...or a total disregard for life because they do drugs, sell drugs, have totaled three cars in five weeks time, only to gain a few bruises and scratches...whereas this fine young lady's life was taken and this makes no sense to me, and YOU ???

Life is dependent on information. All living things come with instructions called genetic DNA. Every cell in the body contains encoded information. The cells act as processing units to decode and act on that information. Information suggests intelligence. How is intelligent information produced by unintelligent matter?

Many do not know that viruses are not living organisms. Viruses are little packages that contain a sequence of information. When a virus enters the body it deposits it's information into a host cell. The host cell then processes that information, which includes instructions for replication. The whole thing is VERY Matrixy.

Please do not think that I am a Christian trying to trash evolution. I am a Deist and believe that evolution does indeed occur within a species, although not the theory that one species evolved from another. I really want to know if there is a reasoned explanation for intelligent information being formed by unthinking matter?
