If I want an imaginary friend, I'll invent one. Oh wait. Christianity already invented one for me. Thank you, Christians.

Why should I?
There's no evidence, and you want me to spend my entire life according to one of thousands of religions? Why did you choose this particular one? Just being born into it?
It's as silly as believing in, say, the lord of the rings books - why would you? Just because you *wish* it were true?
Jesus did not die for you. Christianity uses guilt as a control mechanism.
Read The God Delusion to understand why religion is silly and harmful. Email/IM me if you don't have a copy handy.
Unless you're a kid, in which case forget everything the mean old man said - I'm not making *two* kids cry on the same day.

Wow...this is fresh and original. They probably choose not to believe because (and hold on to your zipper man!) THEY DON'T WANT TO. Simple huh? They heard the concepts and ideas and don't agree with them thus, they don't believe in God or religion. It's freewill. Ya gotta love that. Let it go already. You're not going to win any God brownie points by trying to show anyone the "light". They're not in the dark, some know more about the bible than some so called Christians and still don't agree. They have the right to think or believe anything they like. Please, think of an original question already!

Because there is no god.
People have believed in gods for thousands of years.
We know, for example, that the ancient Egyptians believed in their gods so fervently that they built massive structures like the Great Pyramids. However, we know with complete certainty today that the Egyptian gods were imaginary. We don't build pyramids anymore.
Millions of Romans worshiped Zeus and his friends, and to them they built magnificent temples. The ruins of these temples are popular tourist attractions even today. Yet we know with complete certainty that these gods were imaginary - no one worships Zeus any more.
Today's "God" is just as imaginary as were these historical gods. The fact that millions of people worship a god is meaningless.
The "God" and the "Jesus" that Christians worship today are actually formed out of ancient pagan gods. The idea of a "virgin birth", "burial in a rock tomb", "resurrection after 3 days" and "eating of body and drinking of blood" had nothing to do with Jesus. All of the rituals in Christianity are completely man-made.
All the elements of the Catholic ritual - the miter, the altar, the doxology, and communion, the act of "God-eating" - were taken directly from earlier pagan religions."
"Nothing in Christianity is original. The pre-Christian God Mithras - called the Son of God and the Light of the World - was born on December 25, died, was buried in a rock tomb, and then resurrected in three days. By the way, December 25 is also the birthday or Osiris, Adonis, and Dionysus. The newborn Krishna was presented with gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Even Christianity's weekly holy day was stolen from the pagans."
It is extremely hard for a Christian believer to process this data, but nonetheless it is true. All of the "sacred rituals" of Christianity, and all of Christianity's core beliefs (virgin birth, resurrection, etc.) come straight from pagan religions that were popular around the time of Jesus. Once you understand the fundamental truth of Christianity's origins, the silliness of this whole thing becomes apparent.
Obviously the pagan believers, from whom Christianity derived its myths, worshipped gods that were imaginary. And thus our "God" today is just an extension of these imaginary forerunners. All human gods are imaginary.

So you're asking why I don't believe in God? That's what your rant is about?
*Sigh*
I was never particularly impressed by religion in the fisrt place. I was asked to believe in a lot of nonsense and really non-credible things. I was never "touched", "inspired", or "revealed to". I knew I was being asked to believe a lot of impossible things...like a worldwide flood that left no trace, like a guy living inside a fish for three days, like a man doing magic and no one lynching him.
Jesus, if he existed at all, was a man who stood up against the entrenched theists of the day and got killed because he became politically inconvienent. He didn't die for anyone, he was killed by Roman soldiers for claiming to be...something. Even modern theologists can't agree on exactly what he said (see "The Jesus Seminar").
I have no reason to belive in any of this nonsense. Outside of the Bible there is no scrap of evidence of his existence. A lot of people wrote about his followers, but no contemporary historian of Jesus' day seemed to have noticed his existence. There is no proof at all of any of the wild claims of the Bible's fairy tales--especially where there SHOULD BE evidence.
Keep your sky fairy to yourself and we'll all be happier.

Quite simple actually: There is no evidence outside of the bible, or that uses the bible as its main source to give any credibility to a god. Not just the christian god, but ANY god...and that includes Jesus. There is no archeological evidence to support ANY of the bible's claims...hebrew slaves in Egypt, their exodus thru the desert, the great flood (on a global scale, not local), the existence of Jesus...nothing.
I felt complete when I quit searching for a god, and started living my life.

You make christianity sound like a freakin cult.
Many intelligent people can deal with the troubles and pains of life without help from imaginary beings. Its called being a strong person.
I don't see why you think jesus' death is so honorable.. no one even knows where the crusifixion happened and yet people die for you every day in the war and you don't worship them.

I am not an Atheist, but I am certainly not a Christian. Christianity is illogical, Perfection is unattainable and unrealistic. Why would you want to believe in a God that is unbelievable? It's stupid to think that you've got a floating man in the sky. My Gods are here and visible and tangible. That's why I believe. I'm not saying that you shouldn't be allowed to believe in nonsense. that's your right, but it's nonsense nonetheless to me. As much as you probably think what I believe is nonsense.

Yeah, that would be nice...I wish it were true? I think that is the root of why so many people believe in god:
A deep fear of dieing,
a fear of being alone and
a fear of all the evil in the world.
An all-powerful being that would take care of things would be great.
