ARE YOU ALL SERIOUS???

Support the system but do not support someone you disagree with because you think a god is of a certain political persuasion. If you do not agree with what they are doing, follow proper and legal channels to oppose that which you do not agree with...that is how this system operates.

Let's see how your thinking works:
Our forefathers followed the monarchy of England...(insert outcome here).
All Germans follow Hitler...(insert outcome here).
All of Chile follows Augusto José Ramón Pinochet...(insert outcome here).

MY GOSH...USE YOUR BRAIN!!!

You can support them without agreeing with them, but you don't have to support them either if you choose not to. This is a free country. The leaders we have now and the governmental system we have now weren't even around when the bible was created so they weren't speaking of The President of the United States. I take the president in a different context. So do what you feel is right, not what everyone tells you you should.

NO! This is why we have:

a) Minds that are capable of thinking for ourselves, and the ability the VOTE.

b) Separation of church and state (at least in the U.S. You may be from the U.K. Am I right?) Even still, there should exist that separation -- where does it say that the Church should lead the political views of a country???

c) You have the right to cut the umbilical cord!! I raised my children to think for themselves and QUESTION EVERYTHING. Even ME! I want them to argue and debate, and so should you!

Blair and Bush have horrible politics, values and views. They should both be banished from office, and you should not be forced by anyone to support them if you don't believe they are good leaders. **Most importantly!! Religion shouldn't play a part in that decision!!**

do what YOU feel is right. Don't disrespect your mum as she's there to guide you, but delve deeply into what they are doing in the name of a very very wonderful human being - Jesus. What would he have thought of Tony Blair and George W. Bush invading Iraq? I don't think he would have been too impressed!!! He was a middle eastern man, after all!

also, have a look at what Jesus was saying in regards to the people who were in charge back then....i don't think he was terribly much in favour of them!

Do you think Blair and Bush would allow Jesus to preach his message if he were here today? I think not...he's likely be strung up just as he was all those years ago.

You need to support the institution and show it respect. Since Bush is a Christian you need to acknowledge that respect as well.
This was a hot issue as the NT writings were closing up. At the start, Paul insisted on honoring all the authorities. As the Roman persecutions heated up, texts were added to also justify conscientious protest cf. Peter.

The instructions of Paul to the Corinthians is to pray for those who are your leaders, but he was not suggesting blind obedience. We are to be obedient only to Jesus Christ. Paul says that we have the government we deserve.

The Word of God says that we are to obey those who have rule over us. Whether they are right or wrong. We are to do what is right. If they don't, then they will have to give an account to God. You do what is right and you will be rewarded for obeying. May God Bless U.
