Do you have to be omnipotent or is having super human powers like the characters on Heros enough? Or maybe that guy that can solve a Rubik’s cube in under ten seconds... is he a God?

Ok, I forgot about Tantric Yoga and the Karma Sutra. And then there is the Shivalingam, which is the Phallus of God. I'm sure some Christians think this is a sin aganist God. Or that Hinduism worships the Sexual union as sacred (does it?). Or that Hindus are obsessed with sex. So, I hope I don't get too many negative answers.

What is with this desire to fill life with fairy tales and fictions? Why not learn how clouds, planetary systems or even galaxies form? Why not study how 1.8 meters of DNA is packed into the nucleus of a single human cell? Life and the universe are extremely cool!

Why settle for god did it in seven days when the real deal is so much more exciting? Survival and adaptation, mass extinctions, climate changes, over a million different species competing to survive and adapting to fill every environ on the planet.

Why do people choose escapism? Why escape into the realm of fantasy stories about life after death when life in and of itself is (or at least should be) more than enough?

I don’t get it.

Question 2: Am I ranting?

A post was put up about a far reaching organized prayer campaign against the blasphemy challenge (http://www.blasphemychallenge.com/) but seems to have disapeared without warning, trace, or comment.

What exactly happened to it?

He grew in statue and wisdom. He was God in man, the heavenly bread. I am the heavenly man becoming broken bread and poured out wine and the Master's feast fit for His own consumption. A begger leading other beggers to bread.

I've been celibate all my life. I've had sex only once. There is a moment, just before I ejaculated; just before I was focused on only that. At that moment I saw a vision of the Hindu God Vishnu. In His four armed form (this is a famous poster by the Hare Krishna's called "Kesava Vishnu". I had seen the poster years before). He was standing in water. With cobra hoods spread over His head. An a bright effulgence behind his head shooting out rays. After that, the vision dissapeared. And my mind was totally concentrated on ejaculation. What caused me to see a picture of a Hindu God that I had seen only once? I wasn't a Hindu, but a few years later, I did become a Hare Krishna. Thank you for your help.

It states on numerous Islamic websites that Muhammad was foretold in the Bible and the Book of John is often referred to:

John 14:16-17

I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Comforter, who will stay with you FOREVER. HE is the SPIRIT who reveals the TRUTH about GOD. The WORLD CANNOT RECEIVE HIM or KNOW HIM. But you know HIM, because HE REMAINS WITH you and is IN you.

John 14: 25-26 Jesus said "I have told you this while I AM STILL with you. THE COMFORTER, THE HOLY SPIRIT, whom the Father will send in MY NAME, will teach you everything and make you remember all that I have told you.

HOW THEN CAN MUHAMMAD BE THE COMFORTER WHICH IS THE HOLY SPIRIT when Muhammad HIMSELF, when confronted by the people who wanted him to perform a miracle, said he is only a man.

Q. 17: 90
They say: "We shall not believe in thee, until thou cause a spring to gush forth for us from the earth,

And he would reply:

Q. 17: 93
Say: "Glory to my Lord! Am I aught but a man

Did the Bible give us the Church or did the Church give us the Bible?

2007-01-31 03:46:46 · 26 answers · asked by Anonymous

I believe in the majority all of the Christian teachings. I believe a person can accept Jesus into their heart, doing good to others, Jesus was the son of God and similar ideas. However I find it silly that good people who lived decent lives will go to hell because they don't believe in the bible. So potentially Gandhi, Benjamin Franklin, and many other people will be going to hell. The problem is a Christian is not allowed to have a broader view and be part of a church group. I have literally seen people told not to come back to church for thinking along the lines I said.

Then the church wonders why they no longer appeal to a majority of Americans. Why the church is filled with mostly old people.

Does it bother you that the Bible has been altered so much, and translated so many times that some of its meaning may have been lost? Is that a genuine answer to this question (other than blind faith?) - This is a genuine question, and I mean no offence, I'm simply interested in how rational people can blindly follow information that has been dated by time and translation.

When you send cards just to say hello, or let others know you're thinking of them, they will often do the same on major holidays.

If you do not celebrate those holidays due to your beliefs, how do you respond after receiving these cards? Do you ignore them, or call and explain your reasons? If you choose the latter, how do most people react?

Most people don't send cards expecting anything in return, but some may be insulted if you don't respond at all. I have my way of handling this situation, but I'm curious to know how others would go about it. Soon Valentine's Day, Easter, and other holidays will soon be here. Thanks.

Was Muhammad a messager of spiritual instability?

Do we have reason to suspect that Muhammad suffered from either mental disease or demonic influence? The evidence from the earliest accounts of his life shows that he may have been psychologically or spiritually unstable before, during, and after his conversion to Islam.

There are accounts to suggesting that Muhammad was imbalance goes all the way back to his childhood.
Muhammad had a nurse who took care of him prior to his mother’s death. This nurse relates the following account of a strange event that occurred during Muhammad’s childhood:

"God has let my son live so far and I have done my duty. I am afraid that ill will befall him, so I have brought him back to you as you wished." She asked me what happened and gave me no peace until I told her. When she asked if I feared a demon possessed him, I replied that I did."
