A wonderful question. This is because, the places that only teach Kabbalah with no religiousness attached are scaming you to make money. Case closed. No legitimate Jewish organization I've heard of charges for religious studies unless there s a cost for supplemental materials and even in that case the fee is usually just like 20 bucks to buy a book or something.

Actually, you don't.
There are many good Kabbalah websites on the internet that can point you in the correct direction.
Traditionally, Kabbalah was only undertaken by male sages who were at least 40 years old and had at least three wrinkles on their foreheads. To truly understand the Kabbalah takes quite a heavy understanding of traditional Jewish law, which is why many books about it tend to be large and heavy (and thus expensive).
Hope this helps!

I learned through a book called a Garden of Pomegranates by Israel Regardie, Excellent book and well worth the £12. So it's not that expensive.
Like all beliefs/religions there are those that use it to rip people off. So don't let them put you off.

If you're paying for it... it's probably not the genuine Kabbalah as taught by the greats, such as Ari the Lion.

mostly because you're looking in the wrong place. anyone who claims that he can teach you kabbalah is a charlatan. If (a big if) and when (likely never) you are ready to receive these teachings, you will find yourself in the presence of one who truly can teach you. Just don't hold your breath.

Because if you want to learn about something, you want to learn it from someone who has studied it thoroughly. Not necessarily someone that thinks they know a lot about it. Usually, that costs money.

You don't. There are many good books and many teachers who do not charge for students who are willing to work and study.
