I've read that Blacks are more likely to be religious while Asians are least. Why is there a trend within races?

Do any religions besides Catholics believe you're only truly married (in the eyes of God) if it's done in/by your church?

If this is true of your religion or beliefs, would you agree to marry someone in a civil ceremony? IF that marriage was only to help that person (suspend your incredulity for a moment here), and there was to be no real marriage and you'd divorce later with no legal consequences?

I know everyone is going to think "immigration" at this point, and your views on that may color your answer. But please just pretend that it's for another reason, no matter how unlikely.

Whether or not you WOULD do this, do you feel you would be committing a sin or other no-no in the eyes of your church? Or God?

Believers, please don't give the same old answer--put some THOUGHT behind your answer. If you say that you believe in an afterlife because "the Bible says so," or "because that's what I was taught," how can we take you seriously? That'd just mean you're gullible & believe anything you're told, & didn't come to the conclusion rationally and independently. No, I want believers who've THOUGHT about the issue & have a working mind to tell why they've come to the conclusion that there is an afterlife.

It's a shame that religious people can't see religion from an anthropological/sociological standpoint. Belief in an afterlife can easily be explained... life, for most of mankind for most of history, has been miserable, full of struggle and hardship. The idea of an afterlife was developed by various faiths to ensure the masses had 'something to look forward to' after a life of toil... but that's all it was, a pretend IDEA used to pacify the masses and keep them down, & stop them revolting!

I note from this question that 7x70 was incalculable to Jesus's followers. What the heck? By the time of Jesus, both the Greeaks and the Egyptians (and probably a few other cultures) had accurately estimated the size of the earth. But Jesus followers were stuck on 7x70?

I, as a Christian, truely believe that Jesus came to Earth as the Son of God! Who agrees?

It's stated very clearly what kind of time period is considered a day at the beginning of this story.

"And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day."

Iet's leave the "one day = millions of years" old earth reconciliation alone for this one, that one has flaws of it's own.

For the young earth creationist this creates a very interesting problem. The earth is a sphere, and while half of it is in day, the other half is in night. Now think about the poles of the earth... the tilt of the earth exposes these parts of land to sunlight and darkness for extended periods of time. A day near the poles, according to the biblical definition, can last for a few months!

It's clear to the educated (and critical) reader of Genesis that the authors believed the earth to be a flat landmass covered at first completely with water around which the sun travels. The Biblical "day" in this scenario works fine.

I've actually read books about the authenticity of the Bible and why you can trust the Bible even though I am atheist. These types of books only promote understanding.

I am searching for any organization, or anyone, who would be able to help with a family in need of monetary assistance? My mother, sister, and niece's are in a bad way. They live in Alaska, and have very little money to live on after the hospital and doctors bills. I myself, have been out of work for two months now, and can not help out very much. I know that the GOOD LORD will provide a way. I also know that there are GOOD PEOPLE out there in this world, who would be willing to help but, I do not know where they are, or how to approach them. I myself am a Christian, and believe in our LORD JESUS. Please. If anyone out there has any information in this regard, Please, Please help. I will provide all the necessary information on how and where to send the help that GOD grants to send through his people at the time it is needed.
GOD BLESS YOU and YOURS.
