Depends entirely on your religion.

The Greek God of war was Ares, named Mars by the Romans.

Eygpt had no singular god of war - many gods, both good and evil took aspects of this nature, such as Bast and Apep. The same can be said for Norse mythology - Thor and Sif could be considered Norse gods of war, but they were more singular warrior gods than large-scale war gods. Odin/Wotan was not simply a war god - he was more concerned with wisdom.

I'm afraid that that I'm not so expert on other polytheistic religions - Perhaps one of these was what you wanted, perhaps not.

Mars was the Roman god of war, the son of Juno and either Jupiter or a magical flower. As the word Mars has no Indo-European derivation, it is most likely the Latinized form of the agricultural Etruscan god Maris. Initially the Roman god of fertility and vegetation and a protector of cattle, fields and boundaries, Mars later became associated with battle (perhaps as the growing Roman Empire found it necessary to expand in order to feed itself) and identified with the Greek god Ares. He was also a tutelary god of Rome, and as the legendary father of its founder, Romulus, it was believed that all Romans were descended of Mars.

The clear distinction is made in the following Scriptures:

(1 John 3:9-12 10 The children of God and the children of the Devil are evident by this fact: Everyone who does not carry on righteousness does not originate with God, neither does he who does not love his brother. 11 For this is the message which YOU have heard from [the] beginning, that we should have love for one another; 12 not like Cain, who originated with the wicked one and slaughtered his brother. And for the sake of what did he slaughter him? Because his own works were wicked, but those of his brother [were] righteous. ...15 Everyone who hates his brother is a manslayer, and YOU know that no manslayer has everlasting life remaining in him."

There is the great god of war Satan, who has been behind the first murder by Cain--and continues his love of violence -from Nimrod on with power hungry rulers of our time who fall into his war plan without them knowing it:

(2 Corinthians 4:3-4) 3 If, now, the good news we declare is in fact veiled, it is veiled among those who are perishing, 4 among whom the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God, might not shine through. . ".

--And there is the True God, Jehovah who fought battles for Israel when indeed it was necessary as a truly righteous war.
--Jesus advocated the God of peace, Jehovah--that is why he could say to the questioneer, 'why do you call me good, only one is good, God"
--Was he duped by Jehovah his Father, I doubt that--Jesus was indeed the most courageous & upfront person who ever lived.
