I just want to see how many people out there are followers of Christ. If you are, leave an answer saying "I believe".

If so, what are the dates and what does it mean to you? If not, when did this festival pass away and why?
Thanks for your response -

In the old testament "Yaweh" showed up all the time, talking to people and such.

Is it because of the relationship that the Isrealites had with Yaweh that makes the Christian Fundamentalist so rabid about pushing their belief?

Do the Fundies think that if they .... just convert enough people ..... "God" will consider them special enough to manifest to, like the Isrealites of old?

I find it strange that there are Christians in here who have made it sound like they don't think the Jews have as good an understanding of the OT because they "Lack the Holy Spirit".

Ive had a faith crisis for years now, ever since i got into the science and maths scene and other things in my life changed my views, I was thinking recently about why i stopped believing in GOD (im a Catholic). I keep getting told by my friends who are into the christian faith pretty heavily that im going to go to hell if i dont believe etc. but my questions to them is... so whats happening to other religions why would god create people knowing that they will believe other things and still condemn them if he knew they would do that anyway... they just come back with the we have free will argument and i never get a straight answer. I couldnt see how GOD was real and then now that i think about the creation of the universe it is easier to believe that someone made the universe than to think that an infinite amount of possibilities ended up with the creation of our universe.

But then i also think well if god created heaven and heaven is real... then why isnt hell just as real?
help plz.

Think this one through:

Jesus said he was the Word. Do you know what that means?
Religious leaders in the day of Jesus had placed so many rules and burdans on their followers, that people were beginning to turn away from God, thinking God was demanding and unkind.
Jesus came to show us how to live out God's commandments; To take away all the burdens of religion. Jesus simply came to show us how to live according to God's command.
It's really amazing to think about.

Sometimes I think a lot of Christians feel that the Scientific Community's only purpous is too debunk their faith. Religion since the dawn of time has been trying to hinder science out of fear that people will stop believing in their causes. If you have real faith then you shouldn't need to continually attack science and make things up to try to get people to disbelieve scientific studies.

Also please stop trying to debunk science with your own faulty science. More and more these days I hear about Christian Science Institutions who undergo scientific studies with the sole purpose of trying to find error in science that makes their faith look bad. It's ridiculous, discuss.

ok I dont take this as literally as it sounds
but i know that many do
but this leads me to the question ...
it is known that the more spiritual one becomes , the less appeal material possesions have
why in the realms of spirit ... or heaven if you wish
would we have a mansion
why not a simple home , a little cottage , even a tent ?
why would we be promised wealth and possesions in a place where wealth and possesions mean nothing ?

How come we find some things to be "funny"? why do we have this emotion? Do animals have it? Did God put it in us because God has a sense of humor?

A person's religious beliefs are hugely dependent on their parents religion, the culture in which they are raised, and the time period in which they are born.

Biblical scholars can even track the changing personality of God through the Bible, as the culture shifted through the centuries.

Doesn't this indicate that so-called religious "truth" simply reinforces its family, cultural, and generational setting?

Even though I am an atheist, when I first started using YH answers I would defend everyones right to believe what the chose to believe, but as time has gone bye I have lost the desire to do so because of the questions and answers that have been posted on here by those that claim to be religious, especially the Christians and Muslims. They act like children and express their hate so openly for any belief other then their own.

Now I find that I can no longer defend their rights because I feel threatened by their ignorance. Going back to my original question, has anyone else had this experience?

In one of my answers, I mentioned that the subject of the question was discussed in The God Delusion, and I received a violation notice for "spam and advertisement".

If suggesting that people read a book constitutes 'spam and advertisement', should we start reporting whenever somebody suggests reading any religious text?

We spend our lifetime learning, experiencing and acquiring and somewhere along the path, it's all over. When I think of infinity, or even the 2007 years AC, it seams like such a long time. When I think about my life with respect to that, it seams so short and meaningless. What should we bring with us? Are knowledge, wealth and materialistic property the right values in life to bring with us in death?

If you make a book case you have created it, you had to hammer in nails. A book case could not come into existence on its own.

If you put water in a refrigerator's freezer part, it naturally will become ice.

Ice is something that in nature comes about.

A book shelf does not come about on its own naturally.

Water molecules come about naturally, hydrogren and oxygen combine on their own to form water molecules, naturally.

A human being was not created or manufactured. It came about naturally.

The universe was not created or manufactured. It came about naturally.

Please discuss your views on the differences between artificial items and natural items,

and please discuss why some people think the universe and a human being are more like a book shelf, artificial, created, and not occuring naturally.
