In the old testament "Yaweh" showed up all the time, talking to people and such.

Is it because of the relationship that the Isrealites had with Yaweh that makes the Christian Fundamentalist so rabid about pushing their belief?

Do the Fundies think that if they .... just convert enough people ..... "God" will consider them special enough to manifest to, like the Isrealites of old?

I find it strange that there are Christians in here who have made it sound like they don't think the Jews have as good an understanding of the OT because they "Lack the Holy Spirit".

That's fine CT. But you neglected to say how or why you disagree.

so... you're saying that it's a subconscious jealousy of the Jews that they had more facetime with God...?

I would say it's a pretty odd theory, but not totally without merit. I think there are many reasons why the fundies are so screwed up.

"Yaweh" is God first of all
Therefore the Isrealites relationship with "Yaweh" is their relationship with God. They may have "pushed" their belief because their relationship was so strong that they wanted everyone to know this Almighty God that they knew.
God does not show favor...."Fundies" aren't trying to earn points by converting other people to christianity...they want to share their faith so that others will know God and have a relationship with Him, like theirs, so that when they die, they will go to heaven as well.
Jews can have as much understanding as anyone of the OT. It doesn't matter if you "Lack the Holy Spirit" or not.

If you think about it, God is an Atheist... Otherwise God has a creator himself. If you probe further, then the likelyhood for a perfect being to be created is statistically more improbable than our creation on one of the quadrillions of planets in this universe. You see there are Billions more galaxies out there than there are humans on the earth. So our own creation is not that unlikely, but the creation of a perfect being is that much more unlikely.

Actually, Jews are already chosen, so they don't need the "holy spirit". Either way, it's about living a respectable life and not about what comes after death.
