There are several verses in the Bible which are similarly contested - there are however a much smaller number of seemingly clear statements. The most famous of them is probably from Leviticus: "You shall not lie with a man as with a woman; that is an abomination."

Seperate verses in the same book forbid a wide range of sexual activities, including having sex with a woman who is having her period do they not? Is this an indication that the passage embodies specific cultural values rather than God's law?

What is the real reason for it? And why can't the church modernize and see that condom use is a neccesity? People throughout the Catholic world are suffering from HIV and AIDS, and much of it could have been prevented with condoms.

The Catholic Church has an ideal that people will not have sex until marriage and then will only have sex with their spouse, but this ideal is not realistic, and their reluctance to change their rules is costing the lives of many of their faithful.

Aside from that, it's not econimically good for a poor couple to have 12 kids that they cannot afford.

Understand what I'm saying?

Does the following, which I wrote a few days ago, mean anything to you?

One day we were asked to think of an object that meant something meaningful. So, I pondered for a moment through the usual things one thinks of... Then I came upon something more significant tome- a cane. A cane was my object of representation:

I remembered my great grandpa, and after my great grandma was delivered into God's hands, he slowly began to lose hope, his health, which was all ready not so great begin to gradually decline, and eventually just leave him. But, he had served in the army, he was, as they called him, "a stubborn old man", and he would absolutely not let his pride go. A cane?!! Absolutely not for him! After a while, he finally picked up a cane and realized that it wasn't so bad. In fact, it helped him out a substantial amount and he was able to let himself rely upon it.

So, when I see or think of a cane, it reminds me that we all have our own pride, but we need to be willing to let that go sometimes. In other words, we cannot live without God. We must surrender ourselves, our time, and our possessions to the Lord. For He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life; No one comes to the Father but by Him.

A cane... Something to help the elderly become more stable as their limbs weaken. Something to rely upon. The cane also symbolizes something else for me. Let's just say for all matters and purposes of this analogy that the cane is perfect, it is absolutely flawless- as is God. If the cane does not work it is not actually the cane that is failing, it is us- humans, the people, God's creation. We might lose our grip on the cane, we may slip & fall, but the cane still holds strong.

In other words, we might lose grip with our faith, we may slip and drift away from the Lord. But it is not the Lord's fault, it is our own. We are imperfect, undeserving of His love, but we are so blessed to receive His Holy Presence in our lives daily.

I hope to keep a good grip on my cane, and not let myself falter too much. I wish to stand by it & let the cane guide me.

Hey everybody thanks for taking the time to look this over, I have ahomework assignment that requires me to write something on an issue of "idolatry" of "injustice" but the problem I am running in to is that I am supposed to keep it fairly indisputable and I have to be a "prophet" as I explain it to the class... before I get three million responses demanding to know my religious background and why I would go against G-d this is for my religious studies class in highschool... the exact assignment part that confuses me is this: Put yourself into the shoes of one of the prophets, and imagine what they might say about this issue if they were alive today.Your prophecy should mirror those we have read, i.e. it should not only describe and condemn the injustice being committed, but it should also explain why G-d feels this should change, and also call our society to a greater level of love and action on your issue. Please HELP!

My grandma is sick with cancer. It started out with no symptoms, just constant stomach aches. Now the cancer has spread to all of the other organs and she will die in a matter of weeks unless a miracle happens which I believe 2% in. I'm really sad but I don't have the heart to cry it out and I'm getting angry and my uncle is getting angry because he likes her more than his real mother. And my birthday is in May and I want her to live up at least then. Many other grandmas just knit and read books but she used to take me to restaraunts and the buffets that I liked, she gave me money on my birthday, she was nice to me and never got mad at me and for some reason I thought she was cool and so I want you guys to pray for that she goes to heaven. Right now she is in her bed with a headache and stomach ache. She has a billion tumors all over inside her. She even said she was sorry that she couldn't hang out with me because of that. I wished that she just had a heart attack...

God can use anything to draw people to Himself. I have read question after question from people wondering why atheists are on this site- maybe, just maybe if we Christians lovingly shared Christ and how He has saved us and changed our lives those people who do not believe, may one day.

The tale of Sodom is often debated. In it, Lot has two angels staying in his house. The men of Sodom surrounded the house. "They called to Lot and asked him where the men were who had entered his house that night. 'Bring them out,' they shouted, 'so that we might have intercourse with them.'"

To protect his visitors from an act which Lot describes as "wicked", he offers the crowd his two virgin daughters instead. The crowd are not satisfied and break the door down - the angels then make the intruders blind and Sodom is eventually destroyed by "fire and brimstone".

The men's behaviour was wicked, but was it was wicked because it's a tale of sexual assault and rape? When Jesus mentions Sodom, hundreds of years later, does it appear to be in a context of a discussion of hospitality, rather than one of sexual morality?

I keep thinking how hard it is to be open in my community. Perhaps if there were enough Pagans to purchase the right amount of land in an already Pagan friendly state, this could be a solution.

if the universe always existed, then it came from nothing. Doesn't it make more sense that God created it and everything else. Even if universe came from something, then that had to come into existense, there has to be an Original from which everything else came into existense.
