The tale of Sodom is often debated. In it, Lot has two angels staying in his house. The men of Sodom surrounded the house. "They called to Lot and asked him where the men were who had entered his house that night. 'Bring them out,' they shouted, 'so that we might have intercourse with them.'"

To protect his visitors from an act which Lot describes as "wicked", he offers the crowd his two virgin daughters instead. The crowd are not satisfied and break the door down - the angels then make the intruders blind and Sodom is eventually destroyed by "fire and brimstone".

The men's behaviour was wicked, but was it was wicked because it's a tale of sexual assault and rape? When Jesus mentions Sodom, hundreds of years later, does it appear to be in a context of a discussion of hospitality, rather than one of sexual morality?

it was about rape, plain and simple, had it been about sexual immorality, Lot's family would not have been saved after he tried to pimp his daughters out to the rapists

You have to be carefull here, any time they feel like it some jerk pushes the "ABUSE" button and gets your question yanked for adult content, yet other questions ask about anal intercourse and how its done! I think Soddom and Gommorah got what it needed. Also Lot did not offer his son in laws because he was making the point that the men of Gommorah did not want NORMAL fleshly relations with women, they were perverted. and the perverts don't like to hear that, so Lot and people like me who don't want the truth erased have to speak in parables, so those with intelligence will see and the perves will not know what they are looking at and there by leave it alone and that way the truth will be published. Also anytime a Muslim gets a chance he will twist the scriptures as the people here have done. Read the bible then you will not be deceived by falsehoods.

It's likely an issue of hospitality than of rape.
Here of course, the issue is not just homosexuality but also aggression, and worse, violence against strangers, who are to be protected. Susan Niditch writes about homosexual gang rape in the Hebrew Bible:
“The threat of homosexual rape is thus a doubly potent symbol of acultural,
non-civilized behaviour from the Israelite point of view. It is an active,
aggressive form of inhospitality. This threat as used in…Genesis 19 can be compared [with] Homer’s use of cannibalism in the Cyclopes… incident…
of the Odyssey (bk. 9). In…these cases weary travelers’ needs for
succour are met not merely with indifference but with aggressive behaviour
which epitomizes anti-social interaction in each culture.”

Being gay is wrong. That is why Sodom was destroyed. Men slept with men and evil was everywhere. Sarah turned to look behind and turned into salt. I think with Jesus, it is one of sexual morality. My study bible says that it matches the date of when a meteorite burned the city. So there is historical proof of the city burning,

Sodom and Gomorrah were not destroyed because of homosexuality.

The decision to destroy the city of Sodom was made prior to the incident with the angels.

Ezekeiel 16:49-50 tells us exactly why the city of Sodom was destroyed: "Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen." There is no mention of homosexuality.

In Matthew 10:14-15 & Luke 10:7-16, Jesus implies that the sin of the people of Sodom was inhospitality to strangers.

Jude 1:7 talks about the sin of Sodom as "going after strange flesh." That would seem to me to be talking about bestiality, the angels were not human. Would angels even be confined to definitions of male or female sexual characteristics?

The other problem with saying that this story is about homosexuality is that Lot offers his two daughters to the mob. Lot lived in Sodom and would have certainly known if the men in the mob were homosexual. Why would he even offer his two daughters to a mob of homosexuals? If the mob's intentions were homosexual in nature, then why didn't Lot offer the mob his two future son-in-laws?

The Bible also must always be interpreted in the context of the culture in which it was written, which was nothing like our own. It was not uncommon in ancient times for a heterosexual male to rape another heterosexual male to show his dominance. That type of behavior has nothing to do with people who are homosexual by nature.

No Matter how you look at it, Homosexuality is WRONG! I never Question God. I think that Sodom and Gommorah got what they Deserved! God gave them all plenty of warning and they still turned from it! If you read prohocy, you will see that it will get MUCH MUCH Worse! when God tell us to do something we should Obey! and By the way... Disobeying God under any Circumstance is "Wiked"

:
Ezek 16:49-50
Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.

50 And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good

There were many reasons why He saw fit to destroy them,
and yes homosexuality was one of the reasons as so many choose to deny in face of the facts.

But scripture also says:
:
2 Peter 2:6-8
And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;

7 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:

8(For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;

I think it is more about sexual immorality. But not about homosexuality, just the simple violence, and the rape of the daughters.
