I can't think of any unless it's a generic religion that encompasses the beliefs of all involved. Did you choose this topic? Because if so, I would suggest coming up with a new one. If not, good luck. It's a very volitile subject and has been debated for years and years. It's a can of worms I wouldn't want to open. My suggestion is, however you feel about it, take the position that you are arguing as if it is what you truly believe. That is how you win a debate. It doesn't matter which side you argue as long as you can temporarily take on that side as if it's the only way to go. And if you really believe that religion should be in public schools, keep the arguments logical and keep the emotion out. That is, if you want to win.
If you are very uncomfortable with this topic, talk to your teacher. This seems very innappropriate to me. Or if that doesn't work, talk to the principal and your parents. Check out your school handbood and see if it says anything about religion.

The pros could only happen if all religions were allowed in schools. If so, one could learn about the different religions and learn to be more tolerant of others. Also people of different religions can work towards the greater good and ultimate goal of peace on earth.

The year after prayer was taken out of schools, the pregnancy rate for girls under fifteen increased from 5,000 per year to 27,000 per year, and SAT scores plummeted. Since then, violence exploded and drug use skyrocketed. A mere coincidence? Not at all! Click the link below, it'll give u some other insights on religious influence in school setting.

If you mean taking these from certain religions, and actually putting them in the structure of the school, like up on walls.
Then there are no PROS
but if you mean just an opportunity to practice your faith if you choose to do so while not affecting others, than that is a different story.

Your teacher did not specify which religion.....
I'm sure that everyone on here would single out Christianity. The pros of Christianity being allowed in schools: It would teach morals and values.
But what of Satanism? It is a religion also.....

there would only be a pro if schools taught about a variety of religions and philosophies. But they would all have to be touched on, or at least the major ones, like Christianity, Atheism, Buddism, Hinduism, and Muslim faiths.

Finally getting everybody who is not a member of the dominant religious paradigm annoyed enough to mobilize to stop the rising power of Churchians before it is too late?
As for ethics, if your opponent has a brain they will hit you with secular humanism and the example of Ted Haggard types. Good luck coming up with a good argument...

It would help in the re-subjugation of the masses through an indoctrinated youth thereby doing away with the pesky secular position of the Constitution. That should make the Bible thumpers happy, eh!?!

Not religion, but the Bible can be used, (at the very least), as a good moral compass for society.
("Religion" is man-made... that's why there are so many of them - most being erroneous through one man's interpretation!). Religion, in and of itself, is not a decidedly good thing... it's subjective and therefore fallible.
